We were so impressed with the customer-friendly attitude that we got from Winston and his staff that we left the Sylvia Beach Hotel a day early to come back and enjoy the far more gracious and customer-friendly surroundings of the Old Wheeler Inn.

The beds were comfortable, the rooms spotless, the make-your-own breakfast options were better than you'd get at a chain, the great selection of DVDs to watch was a nice touch and the points-in-the-right-direction were an additional plus.

If you're looking for a cozy, unassuming and charming place to stay, this is it.

Nice folks, beautiful setting. Clean and nicely decorated. This is a GREAT place to stay. Pretty good restaurant across the street and good shopping for antiques next door to the hotel. I've stayed at the Old Wheeler four times now and it just gets better.

The room (5) was lovely, clean, bright and with a great view of the bay. The antique touches were great, and the individual jaccuzi tub was a treat after a day of hiking along the beach. Newspaper and chocolates delivered while you are having breakfast, and a quiet place to relax are just a couple of highlights. Well worth the trip, and much to see in the area. Weather couldnt have been better - we loved it!

I spent a great deal of time looking at websites for places to stay on the northern Oregon coast, and finally decided upon the Old Wheeler Hotel. I picked it for several reasons: the price was good, the pictures looked inviting, and the owners also run the place. My husband and I went for a two-night getaway. What a find! The pictures don't do the hotel justice - it's lovely! We stayed in room four, which is really large compared to the picture. What we really appreciated were the little touches - the note on our door with our names on it, the complimentary newspaper and bottled water, and wine glasses and a corkscrew available when we came back from a winery, bottles in tow. Wheeler itself is a charming village, with antique shops and cafes and a stunning view of the Nehalem River/bay. It's pleasantly situated on Hwy 101, with Tillamook and its cheese to the south, and the shops in Manzanita and Cannon Beach to the north. This is the perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway. I highly recommend it.
