We stayed two nights for a wedding downtown. The hotel is a little dated, but on this occasion the staff made up for it by constantly doing their best with what they had. (That is why I give it 5 stars). Any hotel that has been around the block has a few issues...this Embassy is no different. However, it has character, a pretty good staff (the breakfast staff in particular) and with the nightly reception and free breakfast is one of the best values to be found. We met a few other couples in for the wedding we didn't know were staying there, and spent a few hours (free drinks) sitting on the front porch. A special occasion we will always remember... There was a prom and two buses of young people on a tour and we did not think noise was an issue. I travel with ear plugs and did not use them the first night. The hotel had a 100% occupancy the second night and breakfast in the morning was not crowded and went as well as the day before. For a freebie, it exceeded my expectations.
For a hotel, it has some inner charm and picture taking opportunities. We stayed in 252 near the waterfall and thought that was a perfect place. The staff we encountered were outgoing, informative, helpful and actually seemed to enjoy their jobs....especially the guys flipping the eggs. The room was a little worn, but hey, you are in a 20 year old facility.
The hotel exceeded what I was expecting and would stay again when in the area. Because of the value, I would encourage anyone looking at this Embassy to book it.
