First impressions were mixed. The driveway is promising (tennis courts on the right, a little old but tennis courts, nevertheless) and parking easy but the statues and fountain are a little tacky (or perhaps its fairer to say they were not to my taste) and the reception area is not special in any way. But the hotel grew on us for three reasons. The staff were friendly and efficient, especially the breakfast team; the rooms clean and more than adequate for a lower budget hotel and for the deal we got, the value for money was excellent.
Check in was straightforward despite arriving early. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine with an over bath shower. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided. The TV in the room was flat screen but as is typical for hotels, not particularly advanced although it did have 888 style subtitles. Packaged internet, movies etc could be purchased. The free WiFi in the reception area and bar worked well.
The leisure centre across from the car park has a good size pool, decent changing rooms and pleasant reception staff. This may say more about this area of the country than the hotel as we found staff in all the venues we visited to be friendly and pleasant. Or it could be something to do with Mercure, a chain we intend to try again.
Food at the hotel is on the pricey side but we had no complaints with the food we tried, either for cost or quality.
The grounds are useful for wedding pictures and smaller outdoor events but not large enough for leisurely strolls.
Overall, think good Premier Inn with many significant extras (on site good dining, bar, patio area, lounge, leisure facilities, grounds, quiet location etc) and you won’t be disappointed.
The local town, Bewdley, (a short drive away or a walk that suggests driving is the better option) is situated on the river Severn and has a quaint station on the steam railway. The safari park is close by but from the mixed reviews we read, we gave it a miss. Next time perhaps, and we may well go back.

On a more serious note, we appreciate and welcome your comments and will review them with all the team members.
When you do return soon, you really should take a trip around the Safari Park, or on the Severn Valley steam railway to Bridgnorth. Both are highly recommended.
As indeed are the many other attractions within a short drive or walk from the Hotel.
We look forward to welcoming you again.
