“OK hotel, shame about the lack of curtains and varying drinks prices!”

Stayed here for a wedding, the hotel is ok however a few problems arose....
a) the room which we were given had no curtains! Chose a room here if you like to be woken up at 4am on a summer morning by the sun. Our room had v thin net curtains which people could see you through, diagonally to the right was the corridor window! When we told reception about this we returned to our room to find a sheet had been hung up from the top of the window in some half hearted attempt to block the window up. We stayed in the dark for that whole weekend as we didnt want our make-shift curtain to fall down!
b) Drinks - the hotel has two bars, beware the price varies between the two bars (which are next door to each other). The private functions bar is more expensive so if you are here for a wedding, get your drinks from the main hotel bar!! its cheaper! Dont ask me why the pricing is different.... the staff didnt know either!

However on a postive note the food is good.

We paid £59 per night for a twin room including breakfast.
At this price, the accommodation was on a par with similar alternatives e.g: Travelodge et al.

The room was not huge by any means, but pretty clean & with a superbly powerful shower. The bed did seem somewhat older than the hotel itself (built 2001) but wasn't uncomfortable. Personally, I didn't think there was any difference between a duvet & a quilt, but we certainly had one or the other!

The main benefit of staying here is the free access to the pool, jacuzzi, steam room & sauna which were quite satisfactory.

Breakfast was fantastic for the price paid, but I would have expected perfection if I'd paid the ad hoc price for it ( £9.95).

One thing that might have irritated some more than others was the music from the bar which went on fairly late. Fortunately we were tired/merry enough to get to sleep in spite of it.

Bury town centre is walkable but if you're going to Gigg Lane for the footy you'd have a fair old hoof.

I went here with my husband (i'm 28, he's 35) and we both had a great time. I don't understand how anyone couldn't like this hotel. Looks amazing from the outside- very grand and inside is even grander. Lovely, modern, spacious rooms and the a la carte food in the restaurant was gorgeous. Then there's the pool- wow. It's a big pool, very clean and very well maintained. Sauna and steam room were also good. I liked the fact there was a snack bar as well as a bar with a bar menu and posh restaurant too - offered lots of choice. Found the staff to be really friendly and pleasant too.
There was karaoke in the bar and a good atmosphere which was great.
This was my second visit here and i am sure i will return for a third.

Not a great place to stay.

Looks nice from the outside, and the common areas are fine - bar is nicely decorated.

The staff are slightly less than welcoming, and the food service in the bar was terrible - we waited over an hour for food to arrive.

The rooms are Ok - heating didn't work in the bathroom, wiring was exposed, cleanliness was slightly low for my room - a friends room had a bath towel with a large, old blood stain on it. His room had a terrible smell in it - he asked to be moved, and the next room had a large stain on the floor.

The beds were the worst part for me - very uncomfortable/spongy with quilts rather than a duvet or blankets. I got barely any sleep in the 3 nights there.

I may HAVE to stay here again, simply because there are sod all other hotels in Bury, and we do business nearby, but I would not reccommend anyone to stay here unless they absolutely have to.
