Being a Barnsley ex-pat, I know the Ardsley House wasn't going to be the height of luxury. Basically, it's an ok hotel if you need a crash pad. Nice and clean with generally good service. However, my partner and I had a huge shock upon viewing our room (#63 in case you get it!) and finding the smallest "double bed" ever! It was so small that my feet (I'm 5' 7" tall) were practically hanging off the end and the two pillows laid side by side did not fit on the bed. If anything, this was a 3/4 bed and nowhere near a double. It was also really soft and rolled away at the edges! Thus, not a very nice night's sleep was had. It'd be ok for a couple 5' tall or less and with 20 inch waists!

This hotel offers a home from home atmosphere. The staff are friendly but discreet. The food is of good standard. The rooms, though in need of modernisation, are clean and comfortable. The bar area is friendly and worm. Leisure facilities are excellent. I have been staying in this hotel for the past three months and feel very well looked after.

Found the decor tired, but room and bathroom clean and tidy. The sports facilities were great. The staff friendly and helpful. Overall I got what I expected for the money, no more or less.

Most definately the worst hotel I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in a lot). The hotel is run down and tired to the extreme, this hotel is so unbelieveably old fashioned it is untrue. I was moved bedroom 3 times and each room seemed to get worse and worse. I finally settled in the "Bretton Suite" which for the amount of money I was paying did in no way provide value for money.
I went for a meal in the restuarant and was greeted with a plate full of blandness with the "famous" Bransley Chop being inedible. The veg was overcooked and grey.
I complained to the hotel manager about my poor stay but so only acted in an unprofessional manner and stating that they have had plently of other satisfied customers. She reminded me of a Basil Fawlty in minature!

Please do not go to this hotel for any reason I was moved to another nearby hotel in the Barnsley area of which was 200% better in terms if style, customer service and value for money.
