All the independant shops on the Hamlet are open 7 days a week , but each have different opening times , mainly 10 am till 5pm Mon to Sat and Sundays are at reduced hours like 11 am till 4, but each busniess varies. Its all listed on their website , so best to check before if coming from outside Barnsley.

The cafe / brasserie is always open from 10 am till 5 pm every day, as i visit regularly for the fabulous latte's and home made cakes . They also do more substantial meals.

Its well worth a visit !

It advertises itself as "open seven days a week", so off we went.

The garden centre and shoe shop were open, but everything else was closed. So no food, no drink, no ice cream, no craft stalls, no signposted walks.

A complete waste of time and petrol.

What a gem!! Having lived in Wakefield all my life I rarely venture south of the border but this little place is worth the trip down the M1. I hopped on at j39 and exited at j37 - it took less than 15 minutes. A real hidden treasure. Excellent selection of plants and really enjoyed looking around the place. The best bit though was the cafe. Delightful. Lovely food, very quick and friendly service and a total change from the norm. We'll be back!!

My family and I are from huddersfield and came to pot house hamlet for a day trip. we did some christmas shopping which was good, lots of different things at reasonable prices, womens clothes, plants, cards, gifts etc. The restuarant cafe is excellent for south yorkshire, i had a pasta dish and the children had sandwiches, good service, reasonable price and lovely location looking over the stream at the ducks. This place is set in silkstone village which is very pretty and has lots of interesting building to look at with history. Silkstone church is worth the visit alone. I would recommend this place for a day trip and shopping.

I was on a day out back from holiday in barcelona and bumped into this place, very very interesting. it was an old farm and many of the building have been restored and converted into shops, cafe, nursery, clothes etc, very different. lots of history too as it used to be a 17th centruy glassworks and the chap showed me some of the old glass bits and things. If you're in south yorkshire a must to visit. The children liked feeding the ducks and the history walk down the river. Parking was free. There was a very nice ice cream parlour too as it was hot when we went. It's just below the church in the village which is a beautiful setting in the middle of the country, they welcome dogs too
