We had 3 lessons over 3 days and it really made our holiday. The school has really fun, enthusiastic and helpful instructors and they had us standing up in no time at all. It was a great experience, even when the weather wasn't great. We learnt a lot and would love to go back. Would highly recommend anyone having a go
Went to Perranporth for a camping & surfing weekend and had an amazing time.
Had three lessons with TTRide over three days (last weekend of May - i.e. before half term/jubilee weekend) - I went with two friends (in our 20s & 30s, all beginners) and we were instructed by Julian.
The equipment all seemed very good to me. I believe the wet suits were pretty new, and fitted well. We were never in a group bigger than 5, which meant that we got loads of individual instruction and help in the water, as well as really clear group instruction at the start of each session. Everyone was really encouraged to look out for each other and this supportive, energetic, friendly atmosphere was really nice. Julian was great - very approachable and friendly, but also very professional and we were in no doubt we were in safe hands.
During these three days we all learnt a lot (and at different rates - we were made to feel really comfortable about our own individual progression), and most importantly, enjoyed it massively. Price-wise I felt it was very good value for money. I really can't wait to do it again and cannot speak highly enough of the experience!
It was me and my mum - we had 2 days of instruction from Julian at Ticket to Ride and it was great. I can't wait to get back in the water (and on a board) now! Julian was a really good instructor, giving clear instruction on the basics (we were both complete beginners) and helping us to develop our techniques and, yes, get up to standing...he was so encouraging and enthusiastic and it has really given me the taste for more. I woud recommend it to people - friendly, safe, good equipment and loads of fun!
I did group lessons with TTR 2yrs ago and managed to learn the pop up during a week's course. I came back to Perranporth and managed to surf by myself which I was really chuffed about. I wanted to hone my skills so decided a private lesson would be really useful. My pop up wasn't perfect so was shown another type of pop up technique which may be the key to progressing to green waves!
I was approaching my first time surfing the British waves with a bit of trepidation but Julian, the instructor was a good combination of clear and solid advice, encouragement and a dash of cheesy humour. Cheers guys, I hope to be back soon!
