Having read the comments on trip advisor I was slightly concerned regarding poor customer service. On reflection there was no need to be. I can see where the problem occurs. Once a booking is made the company can do very little to alter it . However that is pointed out in the booking information and really the same type of problem would crop up with many companies .
Our day was perfect .Excellent service from booking to arriving back in Lancaster. I thought it was fantastic value for money when you consider how many miles we traveled that day . As with all this type of day out, you can not expect hours free at your destination .However we found there was time to have lunch and visit a couple of places of interest whilst in Carlisle .
I note the company are booking well into 2013 ,an indication surely of the popularity of the event.
If I could make one comment that a few of my fellow travelers mentioned, it would be about the availability of refreshments on the train.Whilst it appeared that everyone was well stocked with food and drink ,keeping in mind the length of time we were on the train, many passengers were making use of the refreshment carriage .I feel it was an opportunity lost on the part of the company that the choice and amount of food and drink was so limited.
Would recommend this to anyone .
If you are thinking of bringing children keep in mind they will be on the train a long time ,so perhaps some things to occupy them would be a good idea.
The views from the train were breathtaking and obviously ones you would never see from the road .all in all a memorable day ,very lucky to have experienced it .
