The "eastern suburbs' best-kept secret" is a study in contrasts. The facility isn't much to look at from the outside; it is an older, 3-story motel with exterior corridors. Check-in is accomplished through a bullet-proof drive-in type window. This is also the advertised "24 hour front desk". The bulletproof glass doesn't instill confidence in the safety of the area. The room numbers have been pried off of the doors of the rooms, leaving holes in the doors, and are written on a piece of paper taped to the inside of the window. This increases the concerns about vandalism and crime. The room itself was quite large, and VERY clean! The telephone didn't work for outgoing calls, so when I called the front desk to report it, the agitated clerk told me that it did, indeed work, that I had to dial 1 or 9, as if I hadn't known to try that. When I pressed further, she eventually looked in the computer, and said she had turned it on. Gee, thanks. The continental breakfast was a pile of oranges on a table, and some old, stale bread.
For the price, I shouldn't complain. Be sure to try Max and Erma's next door for dining.
