We traveled to Pittsburgh for a concert at the Byham Theatre. It was a short walk across the 6th St. bridge. Located next to the ball park. Hotel was next to the interstate, easy to get to. It was very clean and comfy. The room was a king bed, jacuzzi suite. Well worth price which was very reasonable. We really loved the room. We hit the jacuzzi tub twice in one day!
Very nice hotel, would stay again.

This hotel was in a good spot on the North Shore and a short walk to restaurants and activities. The staff was friendly. Internet and breakfast are included which is a big plus. The room was spacious and included a separate seating area.

Popular with sports fans...

I stayed at this SpringHill Suites on a Thursday and Friday night in August. It's location (directly across the street from the baseball stadium and a few blocks from the football stadium) means that it is very popular and busy with sports fans who constantly fill the small lobby. There is a sign in the lobby that says "shirts and shoes required", which tells you all you need to know about the typical clientele...

When I arrived around 6pm, I was surprised to discover that Federal St. and the Sixth Street bridge were closed for the baseball game crowd that evening, so working my way around side streets to get into the hotel parking lot was a bit tricky. Be aware that the entrance to the SpringHill Suites is not on Federal St., but is somewhat hidden around the corner. The hotel parking lot is quite small and is adjacent to large stadium parking lots. Parking costs $18 extra per night. The breakfast was pretty good, although I don't care for the tasteless egg patties.

Like other SpringHill Suites, the rooms are very nice and have a small kitchen area. There is also a very good bar/restaurant called SoHo next to the lobby that is part of the hotel. I had dinner there twice and it was good.

I would stay here again because the location is excellent for walking into downtown Pittsburgh (if that's what you want). But it would be smart to check the Pirates home game schedule to gauge traffic and crowd conditions in this crowded commercial/industrial area near downtown.

My family stayed a night at this hotel and we have nothing but good things to say.
The rooms were clean and spacious; small fridge and microwave. Good location.
Went to the children's museum(not that impressive!); walked around town.
We found a very good Thai food place. The pool did have a chlorine smell to it but we still utilized it. I actually saw a gentlemen testing the water of the pool and hot tub which
was good.
Good breakfast.

My family and I stayed at the SpringHill Suites at the beginning of July 2009 to go to a few Cubs / Pirates games at PNC Park. If the main purpose of your trip to Pittsburgh is to go to a ballgame, this is the place you want to stay. It is directly across the street from a main entrance to PNC Park, and some rooms even have views of the park. The hotel itself was immaculately clean, with rooms much bigger than expected. Each room as a separate sitting area that was a nice size, with a pull-our couch, chair, desk, task chair, microwave and refrigerator. Because of this, 4 people can comfortably relax in the sitting area without having to sit on the beds. The TV is placed between the bed area and the sitting area with a swivel mechanism so that you can point to either the sitting area or the bed area. Please note that if someone is watching the TV in bed, the people in the sitting area will not be able to see the TV at the same time! This is my only complaint about the room - everything else was fabulous! The beds were extremely comfortable, and there were 5 or 6 pillows on each bed (we had a 2 bed room with a pullout sofa). The air conditioner is a bit loud, but not annoying, and it worked quite well at cooling off the room. The rooms were so clean, I could not find one speck of dirt anywhere. The bathroom and bathtub were so clean, it looked like it was never touched before! There is a nice indoor pool and hot tub in the hotel, connected to a workout room. One of my favorite parts of this hotel was the complimentary breakfast. Every morning, for free, they have a breakfast in the lobby that includes hot belgian waffles, cereal, oatmeal, bagles, and they switch days serving ham, bacon, or sausage with eggs. It was delicious, and we weren't the only ones that thought so! The breakfast area was almost always crowded during serving hours. My only complaint about the hotel in general was the price. We paid $219 per night and I felt that was a little high. I live in Chicago where hotel prices are usually through the roof, and I could easily find a beautiful room for $150 right now because of the economy. The free breakfast and the cleanliness of the room do help make the price much more bearable. Overall, I would no hesitate to recommend this hotel, and I would definitely stay here again.
