We thought it would be fun to try an Amish restaurant while in the area and the information at the visitors center lead us to chose this one. Bad choice. It wasn't cheap $18.00 each as I recall. We were lead into a large hall filled with long tables that seated about 10 each. Plastic red checkered tablecloths. We were joined by another couple and 2 women and they started serving food. We were given "homemade" bread that wasn't special at all. It reminded me of store brand "dollar a loaf variety". They had applesauce that was like canned, the cottage cheese was good. There was a dish of pickled vegetables, which I didn't try. They served a cabbage dish called pepper slaw, which they said was like cole slaw without the mayo. It was "okay" but nothing to write home about. The fried chicken was like you get at the grocery store deli. The roast beef was not tasty. The "real" mashed potatoes were very smooth(no chucks), and had too much liquid added. The corn was like canned. There were four desserts. Peach pie, Shoo-fly pie. ice cream and a pudding that probably would have tasted better to me if she hadn't told us it was made of soda crackers and coconut. It was fun visiting with the people at the table, but the food was way below average. On our drive back to Philadelphia I got "the trots" and we had to make a hasty exit from the freeway and find a restroom. I felt sick all the next day! We have eaten at Amish restaurants in Ohio and had really good food. This was NOT comparable.
