While en route to Hilton Head, my husband and I spent a night at the Old Point Inn. It was our first visit to Beaufort, and we wanted to have a memorable night in a charming inn. I chose the Old Point Inn because it looked lovely in the photographs on the internet, was well located for walking around town, and had rooms that weren't too expensive. It was a good choice.
Although we were disappointed to miss meeting the owners (they were off on one of their many trips), we were greeted by the "substitute hosts," a lovely couple from North Carolina. After a glass of wine and a discussion about where to eat in Beaufort, we set out to walk around town a bit and have a bite to eat. Our room, The Seafarer's Room, the one with the "eyebrow window," was charming, but the bathroom was very small and I think there are better choices in the house (I peeked into the Safari and the Old World rooms on my way out the next morning). Although I didn't see the other room on our floor (the third floor if the stairs are an issue, be warned!), the ones I saw on the second floor all seemed to be more spacious with nicer bathrooms.
The house is beautiful and it's located on a street filled with gorgeous homes. We also enjoyed a terrific fresh fruit, omelette and croissant breakfast the next morning and the company of the other couple staying at the Inn.
I hope to stop by here again in the future and meet the owners of this charming property.
