This is a great location, right next to the Market. It is an older hotel that could use some updating of their rooms. We had a 2 room suite on the first floor, very small, reminded me of a Country Inn and Suites room. Very small bathroom but functional. Suite was very well lighted, had small bar with refrigerator, microwave and sink, no counter space. Room had a few discrepancies which we did report. Toilet paper holder and shower control were loose. No repairs while we were there but we only stayed 1 night. The comforter was plainly stained and I can't believe that housekeepng wouldn't have noticed. Breakfast in the hotel cafe was a terrible experience. No tables, inattentive wait staff, they seemed overwhelmed. Hot buffet with overcooked, inedible bacon and sausage, bisquits dry and hard. Eggs cooked to order but took several tries to get them correct. We got brushed off by the staff at the desk but we did receive a letter of apology from the manager. Nevertheless, we would not stay there again as there are many good places to stay in Charleston.
