My family stayed at the Hayne house last summer as a quick getaway. We loved the location of the house, being right downtown and a few blocks away from the Market. The only time we needed to drive our car was to the beach. That was very nice. The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit. Although we missed the owners as they were on their own vacation, the service was great.

“Quiet, Charming Anniversary”

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary with a trip to Charleston. We had a lovely stay in the Palmetto Room of the Hayne House. The room was small, but perfect for the two of us. The house is located on a quiet, residential street, just a few blocks from the waterfront and within walking distance to great restaraunts and shops. The assistants who checked us in and provided breakfast were efficient and helpful. The breakfast was good with a wide variety and southern favorites. For the price, the Hayne House is a great place to stay for a long weekend in Charleston.

Friendly, helpful owner & staff. Comfortable room, even though we had one of the smaller ones. Excellent (big!) breakfasts! Great patio area for sipping a glass or two of wine. Quiet neighborhood; pleasant walk to restaurants & sights.

Having never been to Charleston, we looked forward to this short visit before continuing on business after two days here. The Hayne House was very nice and the owners were friendly and knowledgable about Charleston, providing some helpful tips and making reservations for a great two hour walking tour of the historic section of Charleston.

The room was nice and comfortable. The closed porch and garden area directly off the entrance to our room were wonderful. We did experience a problem while showering in the morning. I seems that our room was second in line to an adjacent room for hot water. That said, the breakfasts were very nice and the afternoon complimentary sherry was a nice touch.

Charleston is a great historic place to visit. The restaurants are VERY good and I can't think of a better way to experience Charleston than by staying at an historic Bed and Breakfast like the Hayne House.

This inn is in a fabulous location and the main house is beautiful. However, our room was dirty and the facilities poor. There was no sign of the welcoming innkeepers who had been so helpful before our arrival by booking great restaurants for us. The breakfast was awful. Compared with all the other places in the same price range we stayed in in the South, this was really disappointing. Maybe we just got unlucky.

We are so sorry that this guest did not enjoy his/her stay. As owners/innkeepers who live on site with our family, we try to make sure we are always accessible to any guest. Both breakfast and our afternoon sherry hour are always hosted by us or by our concierge or by one of our children, and we give our guests our personal and cell phone numbers at check-in in case there is anything we need. These numbers are also posted each evening when we got to bed in case anyone needs us during the night. We have very high housekeeping standards, but if something was not up to par, we would have wanted to know so we could have had the room re-cleaned. I am not sure how the "facilities were poor;" we are a very small B&B of just four rooms in a 300 year old house, so perhaps this guest was seeking more "bells and whistles" than we offer. I cannot imagine how breakfast could have been awful. Normally, guests love our breakfasts and frequently ask for recipes. If this guest had ever told anyone about a problem or tried to reach us, we would have made sure it was resolved right away.
