We have stayed at numerous B&Bs in Charleston. We LOVE this B and B and now only choose Zero Water Street for our visits.
Great location on the Battery. Very quiet. Our suite was an apartment. They provided breakfast (as everyone has described-simple) The best part is the Piazza overlooking the waterfront.
Our experience with the caretakers was completely different that what others have written. They were (and have been every visit) very warm and open to us. They provided a tour of the inn and anything we needed. We prefer our privacy and they accomodated. If you are in need of alot of interaction with an inn keeper, this is not the place for you. They prefer to provide the guest with privacy. I do agree with the comment on the maid service. They are not that friendly, but they did keep our room nice and clean during our stay.

Having just returned from another weekend in the Holy City, I would have to say that our stay at Zero Water Street was wonderful. The suite was lovely, appointed very nicely and very comfortable. The views and the sounds [such as the frequent carriages passing from below on E.Bay Street] are breathtaking! The innkeepers are very friendly, but not intrusive. It is a very private place to stay and enjoy your time in the city. Breakfasts are very simple but very comfortable and convenient. While you are away, your room is refreshed, the refrigerator restocked, complete with new chocolates on your pillows. May not be for everyone who enjoy breakfasting in a dining room with other guests], but for those who enjoy privacy, Zero Water Street is pure perfection!

Great!!! An entire top floor with a huge covered porch. A full kitchen with bottled water, snacks, coffee, juice, rolls, fruit cups all provided. Private bath, sitting room, entryway, and huge bedroom. All decorated beautifully. Really nice having a private entrance also. The owners were friendly, but do not invade your privacy, allowing you to enjoy yourself without feeling like you need to be prepared to visit all the time. I can't imagine how anyone could expect more. The location is perfect, giving a full unobstructed view of the harbor. It is a short walk to almost any restaurant or shopping in the area. This was my fourth stay in Charleston and I have no doubt where I will be staying next visit. ZERO WATER STREET!

Zero Water Street provided the right blend of history, elegance, beauty, and tradition of the Battery in Charleston. Well worth the extra money, the 3rd floor Harbor Suite IS the place to stay while in Charleston. The Geer family has opened up this wonderful mansion for all of us to experience while visiting this very special city. We will be returning again and again....
