If you're into bbq, you should definitely hit up Melvin's on Folly. I went with a couple friends and we seriously enjoyed our meal.
The 'ambiance' is sort of 'rustic' but fairly clean. You order at the counter, grab a drink cup, and go sit down. One of the employees will bring your meal out (calling out your number) and set it down on the table. It took about 10 minutes from when I ordered my meal to when the young lady brought it out (it would've taken less time, but I ordered our hush puppies and the cashier told me it'd take 10 minutes for them. Not a problem at all).
I had the brisket platter with the mac n cheese and sweet potato souffle. We also ordered the 6 hush puppies and my platter came with some cornbread. My friends both had pork sandwiches with sweet potato souffle and baked beans. There was also a small pickled pepper 'bar' that had banana peppers, jalapenos, and some others. The peppers were definitely a nice little extra. The sauces were both great, although we all preferred the southern red sauce.
The sandwiches were served with sauce already mixed in with the meat, but my brisket was served 'dry' (meaning I was free to add as much sauce as I pleased; or I could eat the brisket plain). My brisket was phenomenal, and the sweet potato souffle was great too. The cornbread was a little sweet (along with the hush puppies), and also quite dense. The mac n cheese was the only part of my meal that wasn't absolutely awesome (although it was still pretty good). My sweet tea definitely hit the spot too.
I can say that, if you're planning on getting a bbq platter (or anything with 2 sides), be ready for quite a filling meal. It has been 5 hours since I finished eating and I still feel completely full. The bbq was great though, and the service wasn't bad either.
