“Mouthwatering desserts and convenient location by the Market”

We stumbled upon the Noisy Oyster during a day of sightseeing in April, 2008, and were very thankful for the comfortable booths with the open windows, great for people watching despite the cool rainy weather, and for the convenient restrooms! The waitstaff was courteous and helpful, and the menu had lots of choices. Be sure to have your waiter show you the dessert tray!

“Bar Food at Best with extremely POOR SERVICE”

We stumbled across the Noisy Oyster while shopping on Market street and thought it would be a good place for lunch - WRONG. I don't think it is good at any time. Don't ask for anything that isn't specifically on the menu. For example, my sister wanted a "wrap sandwhich" but asked if they would serve it on a roll or a bun instead. I ordered a fish sandwhich and my mom ordered a hamburger. The manager told us that they could not prepare her "wrap sandwhich" with a bun instead because they don't have any bread. Totally ridiculus, and we were not even given the option to pay extra for it. By the time we got our food it was cold because the management also refused to close the windows even though everyone in the restaurant was wearing jackets including the servers. Extremely poor customer service, but I think this restaurant only survives because of travelers like us that stopped in for lunch because it was in the right place at the right time. I doubt a local would suggest the Noisy Oyster to anyone for lunch or dinner.

Our location dictates open windows and we simply can not close windows, for a guest who asked to sit by it, and upset 100 other guests. We offered on more then one occassion to move guest away from the windows but they refused. We simply do not carry regular bread so we can not possibly accomadate such a request. Would have been more then happy to provide a bun if it was asked for. Simply would be silly to not have provided one. This experience simply was isolated and our reviews locally and on this site will speak for our level of service. We made several attempts to accomadate this persons needs and all were declined. Not sure what else we could have done.

I visited the Noisy Oyster my first day in downtown Charleston. I started with a bowl of she crab soup. This is the first time I've had it, so I had nothing to compare it to at the time, but I thought It was tasty. I ordered a dozen raw oysters. These were some of the biggest, best raw oysters I've had. For a drink I had the Palmetto Pale Ale. It is a local brew and was very good. My wife doesn't like seafood and ordered the chicken tenders. They were good also. This is a very nice, inexpensive casual restaurant. I wanted to go back a few hours later for their happy hour, but I was too full and there were too many other choices around.

Great atmosphere. First time I was there I had excellent scallops but the last time I was there, they were not as good.

The food was good, but service was absolutely horrible for a night that wasn't even busy. Took over half an hour to get drinks(which by the way are way overpriced). The redeeming quality of this restaurant is its location and the view, good for people watching while you eat.
