We stayed here for CofC family weekend. I thought since it was only four months old and just 7 miles from downtown and campus, that it would suffice. And I guess, it did. But the staff really leaves a lot to be desired.
Our room was nice enough but the sheets were like sand paper. (OK, not literally, but you get it) and the furniture was hard as a rock. But who gets a room like this to hang out in it anyway? My complaint is with the staff and their attitude and indifference towards the hotel guests. I talked with others on the elevators who were feeling equally, if not more so, perterbed.
Most importantly, I walked in on the hotel cleaning lady in my room the first morning and she was stuffing something (of mine) in her pocket.

I hope management received as many complaints as people who threatened to because I just wasn't in the mood this time. But I am in the mood to warn others.

We stayed two nights at the Hawthorn Suites in Charleston, SC on Savannah Highway. We found this to be a most comfortable and restful hotel! I think that each individual has their own idea of whether a bed or couch is comfortable or not, but this was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in! We didn't find it to be hard at all! I guess the fellow in the previous review must like feather soft beds. The living room furniture was very comfortable and best of all, this is a new hotel and it is very clean! Everyone that works there that we talked to were very nice and we would most definitely stay there again!

On our second night there, we did hear a child running, but it was nothing more that you would hear in any hotel. The pool water was cold, but it was very clean as well.

We went into historic Charleston to do a harbor tour and carriage tour, and we also went to watch the Charleston Riverdogs play baseball. The hotel is close in to everything, but at the same time, it isn't in the crowded part of town where you can hardly get around.

This is a very nice hotel and we would not hesitate to stay here again!

When making reservation at this hotel I asked to be on the top floor so no one would be on top of us...I made the reservation weeks in advance...clerk should have explain that this hotel could not accomodate us....We are nonsmokers, so the fourth floor was out...
The room on top of us had children jumping most of the night....The Mgr. was very aloof when told of our restless night...Loud tv in the next room, until late in the AM...
The Desk Mgr. was nice and gave us $20.00 tried to console us...Not that we did not appreciate this act of kindness, but the General Mgr. should have done more.....
I am waiting for Guest Services to call me back....

Hopefully they will get a grip on the noise problem....
Although the room was clean, maids were nice....for the most part the experience at the front desk was bad....
If you are looking for rest this is not the place.....
