“Great hotel with a noise problem...”

I just got back from Easter weekend at the Ansonborough Inn with friends. We thought the location was great and price reasonable since it's within walking distance to downtown and includes breakfast. The staff was great, especially Immad (sp?) at the front desk. He was always smiling and very cordial.

The only drawback I could find is the NOISE! You could hear entire conversations from the next room. Coughing in the middle of the night from other rooms woke us up. I would strongly reccommend that the management try to look into soundproofing. A great room/location and staff is not worth it when you can't sleep at night.

Keep up the good work!

I stayed here with three colleagues while we were in Charleston for a conference. We all had separate rooms, each of which were exceptional. Exceptionally large rooms, some with separate sitting areas separated by stairs, or by a wall and a door. Television in both the bedroom and the sitting room. All rooms with king sized beds. Some are 4 poster antique beds! The owners took great care in creating a luxury of the past. Antiques and high quality artwork adorn the entire property. Mini refrigerators, microwaves, and sinks are in each room. I understand that this is the "low" season in Charleston, but I would still expect to pay over $200 a night based on the size of the room alone. Our reservations were $169/night. They offer a complimentary breakfast every morning, consisting of fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, muffins, etc, and offers a "happy hour" in the afternoon with complimentary wine, cheese, crackers, and various dips (request that they make the artichoke dip for a night while you're there!). If ever I make plans to go to charleston for fun, I will definately consider booking here. We're already on the books for next year's conference.

“Horrible customer service”

Ansonborough Inn

I canceled a reservation via email and assumed it was taken care of. Somehow they supposedly never received my email and I cannot prove that I indeed sent the cancellation because I had recent email issues and have lost all emails from the last 6 months. I have now been charged for the full price plus tax and the hotel is not willing to remove the charge or even provide me with a credit!

I had stayed there before and liked it but will NEVER stay there again and want to make sure that everyone knows how horrible their customer service is.

The B&B is nice, and not too far, (10 -15 min. walking distance) from the center of the city, but it lacked some key ammenities, like a hot-tub/jaccuzi. We had a room with a nice King size bed, but the rest of the room seemed to fail to keep up as far as decoration / presentation. We paid $300 a night, and in our opinion, it was overpriced since there were no more key ammenties other than a nice bed.

Cute, but not practical for sleeping! This hotel spent a lot of money in decor, but very little thought went into the basics of what makes a good nights sleep - soundproofing! Between the noise coming from both adjoining rooms, lots of street noise and trucks backing up (beep, beep, beep), noise from the atrium, noise from the deck patio, we were SO ready to get home and actually get some sleep! We got $10 off at checkout in compensation for the noise - woohoo! Not worth the money in my opinion, and would choose to stay somewhere else next time.
