We just visited the Victoria House Inn for an anniversary trip to Charleston. Our room was nice (I loved the beautiful paint color) and appeared clean. Not big, not small. There are no common areas at the inn, so you really are just paying for a room. It's not the bed and breakfast experience of some of the other family owned places. The afternoon wine is served at their sister inn next door. It was nice to have but we would have liked some cheese and crackers or something with the wine.
Breakfast was 2 beverages and 2 pastries (croissant and sweet roll) brought to your room. It was nice to have it delivered, but would have liked to have had some fruit or something a little more substantial.
The location was good, across the street from some shops like Saks, Gap, J-Crew, Starbucks, etc...From the parking lot, it is a short walk to the front of the market. It was a pretty good walk to the historic homes, but was definitely in a good location to walk to anything we wanted to do.
We got a good deal on the room and it served it's purpose but we probably won't stay again. There was definitly nothing distinguishing or romantic about this inn. If you get a good deal and aren't looking for the "B&B experience" it was nice for a room.
