Stayed in unit #1008. Okay condo unit. Not quite what we are used to as we normally go to Hilton Head. Garden City is just as expensive as HH but not near as nice. This resort is VERY old and needs a lot of work. Dirty too. Unit was passable -- which was why we stayed. We were walk-ins so did not expect much. But, for $233/night, we definitely expected upscale. Would not recommend and certainly would not stay there again.

this resort is very old and needs alot of updating. elevators only 2 out of 3 were working, in july very busy time to be out an elevator. pools just did not look clear, very murky. we didnt go in them. our condo was very expensive for the condition it was in. i realize you cannot put great furnishings in a rental unit, i have been a landlord before, but the furnishings were so out dated. i put blankets on the sofa's as i didnt wanted anyone sitting on the dingy looking sofas. carpets were not clean. the nicest thing of all was the tile floor in the hallway and the nice cold a/c. all doors in condo. stuck so you had to slam them shut and when you did that the ceiling tiles in both bathrooms started to fall down. we had to rent our linens, which i've never heard of before, but the first night we had to crawl between blankets as they were not in the condo. and we did not realize it until we went to bed and there were no sheets on the beds. we did get credited for those by the managment company. all in all, i just think they need to spend some money doing some updating to justify famillies spending over $900 for a four night stay. this was our first visit to garden city. i liked the city and would come back only to stay in one of the nicer places that were all around us.

We just returned from Garden City S.C. and stayed at the Royal Garden Resort....I agree the building has aged, but the pools, and elevators, and lobby were kept clean each day which means alot at such a busy time. The snack bar is owned by two borthers who are very friendly, and the food and service was great. Our condo needed some work done to it, but all in all I will give the place 3 stars!

“Great Vacation”

This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach and hopefully not our last. We were there the last week of August which is perfect . No crowds no lines (the kids are all back to school) The room was great except for when the transformer blew on our second night and the elevators were out until 2 am. Not the condos fault I blame mother nature and the salt air..... The outdoor pool and deck were wonderful so was the beach. The indoor pool area could use some work very hot and stuffy and all of the access doors except for 2 were un usuable. Also the Sauna did not work properly.
Loved having a washer dryer. The one detraction is the parking if one car is going up and one down someone has to give and back up.... very cramped except on the top deck.....

“Nice Surprise”

Royal Garden Resort

This was our first trip to the Myrtle Beach area, and because the mother-in-law was with us, I was really hoping for a nice place. We have been deceived by this board in the past, so I was a little worried. All that being said, we couldn't have been happier with the Royal Garden Resort. The 2 BR, 2 Bath condo was as clean as my home, and trust me, that's pretty clean. There was ample parking, although the parking spaces were a bit tight for my mid-size SUV. All of the pools were cleaned daily, and everything seemed to be in working order, with the exception of the sauna.

Things you should know: This is a set of condos...not a hotel. That means that there is no dialy maid service. They clean after you leave. There is a 4 hr window for towel exchange. That means if you want fresh bath/kitchen towels, you have to bring your old ones to the laundy room, and exchange them. We did this daily, and the staff was very nice. We even left them a white beach towel by mistake, and the next day, I was able to retrieve it from them (cleaned, although my company logo had faded a bit...they must use industrial strength bleach). Also, They have a very nice game room, with pool tables, air hockey, video games, and even a shelf with books and puzzles...nice if it rains. There is also a snack bar, ice-cream shop, and gift shop on site.

My only regret is that we booked this as a long weekend instead of a full week, because we were worried about he condition of the hotel. My wife and kids (and even mother-in-law) wanted to stay an extra day. They are alread planning for a full week next year, and my wife is checking into ownership, as we only live 3-4 hours away.
