This was our first trip to the Myrtle Beach area, and because the mother-in-law was with us, I was really hoping for a nice place. We have been deceived by this board in the past, so I was a little worried. All that being said, we couldn't have been happier with the Royal Garden Resort. The 2 BR, 2 Bath condo was as clean as my home, and trust me, that's pretty clean. There was ample parking, although the parking spaces were a bit tight for my mid-size SUV. All of the pools were cleaned daily, and everything seemed to be in working order, with the exception of the sauna.
Things you should know: This is a set of condos...not a hotel. That means that there is no dialy maid service. They clean after you leave. There is a 4 hr window for towel exchange. That means if you want fresh bath/kitchen towels, you have to bring your old ones to the laundy room, and exchange them. We did this daily, and the staff was very nice. We even left them a white beach towel by mistake, and the next day, I was able to retrieve it from them (cleaned, although my company logo had faded a bit...they must use industrial strength bleach). Also, They have a very nice game room, with pool tables, air hockey, video games, and even a shelf with books and puzzles...nice if it rains. There is also a snack bar, ice-cream shop, and gift shop on site.
My only regret is that we booked this as a long weekend instead of a full week, because we were worried about he condition of the hotel. My wife and kids (and even mother-in-law) wanted to stay an extra day. They are alread planning for a full week next year, and my wife is checking into ownership, as we only live 3-4 hours away.
