Staying at this hotel was a great option for our two night stay on Hilton Head during our driving tour of the Carolinas. We booked ahead via the internet and the room we were given was exellent - non smoking king - great and very comfy bed - great bathroom. Above all we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful - the hotel may not be on the beach but it's only a short drive away and the hotel is handily placed for shops etc. which we found handy in terms of provisioning. Breakfast encompassed a good range of the usual items, including some cooked and we were very happy with it. The hotel has a fair sized pool for a quick dip and a nice area round the pool to sit out in. All in all we had a great stay and if planning a visit to HHI I'd say take a look at this hotel if your looking for good accomodation at a reasonable price.
This is a typical Hampton Inn....Except you are on Hilton Head Island. This hotel is not on the beach, but it's setting, like everything else on the island, is nice. I wouldn't plan a week long vacation here, but for a night or two it would be good. From a business person's perspective, the hotel is quite suitable. The internet connection is strong, they have a small business center and the workout room is well maintaned with very good equipment. Airport is also very close.
The pool area is nice, not spectacular. Again, kids would love hanging out here for a couple of days. Walking/running/biking paths are literally right outside the door.
Rooms are decent. Common areas seem to be well kept.
I've stayed in nicer Hamptons, but this one is no slouch.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn Hilton Head during September 2007 for my very first time in Hilton Head. I booked this hotel the prior night before our stay, we only stayed there one night actually.
First thing my and my boyfriend did when we got to Hilton Head was to stop by the welcome center. They are very helpful and you will get alot of information, coupons, and maps from there. We asked the attendent where would be good for lunch and she suggested the salty dog cafe which was really good! Then we stop by the beach but realized we were unprepared for it. We resorted by going to the shop and buying towels to sit on. BTW, remember to bring chairs, towels, or whatever you can sit on because they are no beach chairs for use. Headed to our hotel to check-in before 4 pm, the hotel is not really near the beach, you have to drive to get there...farther than I would have like to have been from it. Check in was easy. We got into our room and situated ourselves, lounged around and got ready for dinner. Mind you I'm not an extremely hard peson to please but there were minor problems. Frist off, they put us right across the laundry room and there was always loud noises like someone was fixing something or people banging the doors coming in and out. The room was on the smaller side but the king bed was huge and extremely comfortable so I was content. There was a fridge and coffee maker which was convienent. The bathroom was very smelly though, it smelled of dampness or one of the public beach bathrooms.
Overall, it was okay for a one night stay but I might not come back when I head into Hilton Head again. Good for the price I guess, booked it for about $100....but I would like to be in a hotel that was on the beach, beachfront it is not.

Wanted somewhere to stay on Hilton Head that wasn't going to break the bank but at the same time would offer a comfortable place to stay for 5 nights. After lots of research, found the Hampton Inn at a good rate and booked. After fairly long drive down from Charlotte, was looking forward to arriving and was not disappointed. Nice hotel, easy to find, ample parking. Close to main road but you wouldn't know it - well hidden by trees etc. Room was in good order all round. Service was good. Free breakfast was fairly good but got a little bored and one day got breakfast at IHOP, just up the road. Very short drive to beaches, restaurants and shops. Pool area was nice, rarely crowded, clean and tidy. Overall, a very nice stay at a very good rate. Would stay again if in the HH area.
