“Awful Condition”

Park Lane Hotel and Suites

6 Jun 2008

Our room was in terrible condition. The kitchen cabinets were falling apart. There were sharp, jagged edges everywhere. The side facing the dining room had actually collapsed. Like someone fell into it. The TV stand was a disaster. The supports holding up the drawers were both broken. Of course my 9 month old couldn't help trying to pull up on it repeatedly. I really wasn't comfortable letting her roam the room at all.

Our room had a second floor with another bedroom and bathroom. But it was so hot up there that no one could possibly sleep up there. So our entire family slept on the sofa pull out bed. Which was not comfortable.

At about 3AM someone knocked on our door. We don't know who it was, but he wouldn't go away for 30 minutes.

The staff was very friendly though. The hotel is just in terrible condition. I have heard they are renovating and it definitely needs it.

It was close enough to the beach. You couldn't walk there. But biking there is definitely an option.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will do our best to remedy the safety issues in the room immediately. We will be completing a full renovation of the guest rooms and corridors after the summer and we would love to have you contact us in hopes of giving us another try.

“rude staff”

Park Lane Hotel and Suites

4 Jun 2008

after driving all night we arrived at the hotel around 1;30 pm to be greeted by the young gentleman behind the counter in the rudest way telling use we could not check in until 4pm,finally after 10 minutes of telling him we drove all night the other person behind the counter gave us are room, the next morning i came to the lobby to print out some directions on the computer and could not get the printer to work so i asked for help from the same person behind the counter.well needless to say i was treated with the same disrespect i got the day before.besides that the hotel is remodeling and it looks very nice .they have a good hot breakfast and a shuttle to the beach.nice pool area, and the rooms were very clean.for the most part we had a good vacation there but some of the staff was not very friendly or helpful.

“Great place to stay!!!”

Park Lane Hotel and Suites

North Carolina

Before coming to Park Lane, I did read the reviews, which some were good and some were bad, but I decided to check it out anyway, which I'm glad we did! We really enjoyed our stay at Park Lane. The outside of the hotel looked good. The room was just right. Yes, it was a bit outdated but are we really going on vacation to live in our room.??? NO! It accommodated our needs for the weekend. Per the reviews, I'm thinking I'm going to walk in to this mildew smelling, bug infested, god awful room, but it wasn't that at all. The kitchen area was nice and the rest of the room was quite spacious. Didn't get to check out the breakfast (which is the main reason we booked there) because we got in so late and decided to sleep in.
The only issues I had is the jacuzzi was not cleaned everyday, we went twice and bugs and debri was in it. Just think it needed to be maintain a little better. Also, housekeeping came knocking at 9am!!! Not cool.. and the phone rang every morning at 9:30am.. just as I read in a review. Good thing I read it first, cause I didn't pick up the phone! Overall, I would recommend and I would stay again!

I appreciate your comments. Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us. Perhaps, next time you will get to enjoy our hot breakfast. As for the jacuzzi, it is cleaned every morning, but I will pass your comments along to our maintenance staff. I do apologize that houskeeping knocked on your door at 9am, but as in most hotels that is the time that they begin their shifts, so that the hotel may have the rooms ready by 4pm for our guests to check in. We do provide "Do Not Disturb" signs in the rooms for the guests to avoid this situation.

Sheila K. Baxley CHA

“Horrible - will NEVER go back”

Park Lane Hotel and Suites

1 Jun 2008

HORRIBLE absolutely HORRIBLE I have stayed here in the past when it was a Residence Inn and it was not nearly as bad, and I know that they are doing remodeling but YUCK!!!!!
1) the roaches were all over the place!!!! they kept telling me that they were "palmetto bugs" but I DON'T CARE. They were huge and numerous and seemed to like my bed. I was terrified to sleep. I wound up having to buy my own can of Raid since the staff were not about to help me. They told me at the front desk, "well.... you're in the deep south" I DON'T CARE!!!! I don't think I should have to share my bed with roaches. it was absolutely disgusting. Plus my children are terrified of roaches, so what should have been a pleasant stay was turning into a nightmare.
2) the 3 am fire alarm that had the whole hotel evacuating, all because someone decided to smoke in the hallway under a smoke alarm, at least that was what we were told.
3) the upstairs bathroom (we stayed in a 2 floor unit) did not look clean to me. it just looked very old and run down, and dingy. the downstairs bathroom was not as bad. the door to the upstairs bathroom would not lock - it would not push together all the way
and the fire escape door near the bathroom had a large gap running the whole length of the bottom of the door, which was probably letting in lord knows what.
Because of the roaches, I would not let the kids bring in their suitcases into the room,(I was afraid roaches would crawl into the suitcases) so we had to do alot of back and forth just to get stuff. I washed all all clothes in hot water just to be on the safe side before packing to leave - which i did in the car!!!
4) I kept getting phone calls and then they would hang up on me.
On the positive, the breakfast was pretty good, having a shuttle to the beach was nice, and the pool was large but usually crowded, and the manager did refund me one night after I had to go to her office and complain bitterly about everything. She seemed to be shocked at what I was telling her - I got the feeling that maybe sleeping with roaches was supposed to be fun.
I will never ever stay here again.

I am sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations. Ecolab is at our hotel once a month and we have no reports of roach activity in our hotel. Palmetto bugs can get into hotels if and when the hallway doors are left open or sliding glass doors to the room are left open. We are surrounded by a wooded landscape.

“Diappointing Accommodations”

Park Lane Hotel and Suites

23 May 2008

We were told the rooms had been remodeled and they are certainly in need of that. Our suite was adequate but mainly because we didn't have to spend much time there. The carpet was wornout and dirty. There were cobwebs along the baseboard and in the light fixtures. I would not say the place was clean by any means. No "Do Not Disturb" signs and the cleaning crew woke us before 9am each day and again in the afternoon after we stated we did not need the room cleaned. The front desk attendant on Friday night was flat out rude when I asked a question about a hospitality room. Diappointing stay after reading other reviews.
