Stayed at the Hilton Oceanfront in Palmetto Dunes from 5/7 through 5/13 after reading some excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. It was well worth the cost, even including the $6/day parking fee. The room was extremely spacious - we had a king suite overlooking the courtyard and it included a mini kitchenette with toaster, coffee pot, microwave, small refrigerator, dishes, silverware, etc. The king bed was to die for - extremely comfortable with tons of pillows and blankets. The room was very clean and the service was excellent from everyone involved. We rented bikes for the week at the place down the street (Palmetto Outfitters) and that was an excellent price. The option of two pools with plenty of chairs or the beach was great. Highly recommend this resort.

“NO BIKERS...or at least not our bikes”

As HH newbies, my wife and I found out about biker / no-biker zones in HH the hard way and wanted to share what we learned. No motorcycles past the security checkpoint of any plantation. No motorcycles at the Hilton, because its entrance is well inside their plantation’s security checkpoint. We stored our bikes at Beach City Storage <1 mile from the airport, nice storage place run by super nice folks, swung by the airport first to get a cab to bring us from the storage unit to the hotel. If you're a biker riding down to HH consider Westin, even though it's on a plantation its entrance is just inches outside of their plantation’s security checkpoint. They also have underground/covered parking.

The good stuff:

Nice big room, very clean, efficient service. Decent view from the balcony. Lots of parking, easy to get around, close to shopping and other amenities. Beach was essentially empty, and you could walk forever. Free internet was a nice surprise, as was a cheap guest laundry room.

The bad stuff:

AC got to tepid, and that was it. The ceiling fan helped a bit, but it was always stuffy. Paying for parking seemed a bit much. One pool was closed, and there was a major reno going on elsewhere. The steakhouse was also closed, you had to eat in the breakfast room, which was ok, but severely lacking in atmosphere. Of the four nights we were there, on three occaisions the whole courtyard (which was right outside our room) was rented for noisy convention groups.

Warning: the ocean was riddled with jellyfish...not the hotel's fault, but yuck. Also, without a car, this whole destination would be impossible.

Everything you'd expect from a standard Hilton resort property. The rooms were clean, but not perfect. The walls reeeally needed to be wiped down. Housekeeping was very good, even did the dirty dishes in the sink. Common areas were looking a bit tired/dated, but there were some renovations going on during our stay.

The best feature was absolutely the oversized rooms with the kitchenette - great for a family w/young kids to be able to spread out, and have some cereal for breakfast, a light lunch or snacks during the day. The kid pool was the perfect depth for our 3 children ages 4-8. I didn't even have to get in the water with the youngest all the time, but could sit in the sun and safely watch him. Beautiful beach. All-in-all a very nice stay.

We booked this hotel at the last minute for my son's spring break. We definitely enjoyed the large balcony with direct ocean access, but that was the best of it. It is by no means a full service hotel. You had to rent beach towels and chairs ($4) and carry the very bulky wooden chairs over the dunes and across the beach. If you wanted to pay $7 more you could rent the ones right on the beach. My son rented a bicycle and the chain broke at the end of the beach and he had to walk it back. We used the Concierge to recommend restaurants and their recommendations were not very good. Almost every day my key card became desensitized and i had to bring it back to the main desk. They said it was from being too close to a cell phone or other credit cards, but after the first time I kept it in a separate pocket from those items, so i am not sure why it kept happening. They also charged us $6 to park in the parking lot, whether we used valet or not! If I had paid the $79 other reviewers paid, I wouldn't have minded the constant nickle and diming, but for the over $300 a night we paid it was annoying.
