You should definitely go spend time here while on HH, or it's actually worth a drive to go spend some time here if you are close by in Bluffton, Beaufort, Savannah area. This is quintessential HH, with lots of shopping, dining, hotels, condos, bike paths, a marina, golf courses. Great views of a pretty marina and out into the open water. The lighthouse does give you a better view too, so worth it to journey to the top.
We've been here a couple of times, and ate in one of the restaurants but I can't recall which one. I know The Quarter Deck has been recommended to us, but I'm sure there are other good spots to hit as well. The shops are fun to shop in, some of which do have some unusual gifts which is always nice to find while traveling. There's a central public restroom area which is always good, along with a general store if you need some basics/essentials.
This is a good spot to launch a bike ride from, as there's very well marked trails that take you all over the island. You can do short rides or long ones, and never feel tired or lost! A few of the trails also take you through the local golf course which is a very nice ride. Be advised though that there are no bike shops at Harbour Town that rent tandems, but there's a bike shop just down the road at Sea Pines that does rent them. This is also a good spot to start from as well.
It's also fun to look at the very large boats docked in this marina....sometimes you'll see enormous dream boats, while other times you might just see crazy nice boats that aren't quite as large.
There are also rocking chairs strewn throughout the shopping area which is a nice touch!
