My family of 6 stayed here in August. The location in Shelter Cove is close to restaurants and shopping and the Dunes beach is more convenient than I expected. My disappointment is that I wasn't told ahead of time that Harbour Point is a smoking resort. Honestly... I didn't think any of these still existed in the US anymore. Sunset Point is non-smoking so definitely try to stay at this sister resort. The managers told me that they are run separately so they couldn't switch me from the smoking to non-smoking resort. Interval International could... but was going to charge me $255 a night (no exchange credit).
Beyond the lingering smoke in the room, the age of the room showed, and the beds and linens weren't of Marriott standard.

We loved Hilton Head and will definitely return, but will not be staying here. I'd recommend staying away as well unless you're a smoker.

This is the first time my family visited Hilton Head, and it's also the first time we used timeshare.

The facility is great! Though feel a little bit old. The unit we stayed has a huge bathroom, increditable view to the marsh. and on Tuesday night, we just lying on the bed, nice and cool, to enjoy the fireworks thru the huge bedroom window.

The location of the facility is terrific. Minutes to major grocery stores, free shuttles on call to the beach. Nice and quiet.

The pool is great, kids had a lot of fun. Gas grill on side of pool. We BBQ'd once for dinner, great experience! (Never realize at home that so much stuff you need for just a BBQ.....)

The staff there are very friendly. Almost helped us out on every requests we made.

One big drawback, I must mention, though nothing to do with the facility, and probably specific to us only -- tourists from northeast US, is the huge cockroaches everywhere. When first saw in our bathroom, my wife screaming like crazy made me feel that she saw a snake in the tub. The staff took care of it promptly. Then we found out they are everywhere outside. Especially when you walk on the harbour boardwalk in romantic nights, you have to watch your every step or you will crush a lot of them. Kind of not that romantic anymore with them.....

I will definitely come back.

I travel to Hilton Head frequently for business and this was my third stay in this property. Staying in a hotel room gets old, so having a kitchen and living room makes for a pleasant change. During the summer, this property can be very expensive, but during January, the internet rate is often $99/night and MORE than worth the price. The units are spacious, well decorated and equipped. I was in Building #4, which has an INCREDIBLE view several miles across the marsh. Although it's not on the beach, the property provides a guest pass for using the private beach at Palmetto Dunes...only about a mile away. Centrally located on the island to all the activities.

We stayed at Sunset Pointe at Shelter Cove on Hilton Head Island and it was very nice. The villa was well decorated and clean. This resort is not on the beach but we aren't real beach people so that was fine. There were two pools one heated, one not heated. The location of the villa was central to the island. Was told that the Harbour Point villas were going to be redecorated in 2005. (Harbour Point is right next door and share the pools) There isn't a pool restaurant but heard with the remodeling that they were going to add a marketplace.
