I searched in vain for reviews of The Village prior to my trip and could find none. I hope this provides adequate warning to those visiting the Ghetto of Palmetto Dunes. If you are a timeshare owner of the Village, I strongly suggest that you demand an accounting of your maintenance fees immediately.
Tucked away from sight, the Village lurks behind a beautiful golf course and tennis center. It sits in the shadows of beautiful homes and resorts and is close to the beach. It offers nothing other than location.
The resort is a small collection of townhouses and "cottages." It has a pool too small for one's back yard and an "office" smaller than a highway toll booth. No information, other than a short meeting on the first full day of the vacation, is given to the guests about activities, probably because it offered none.
Our unit, a huge 3 bedroom townhouse, was in terrible shape. While the disinterested teenager in the office described our unit as "one of the renovated ones," it appeared that renovations occurred before her birth. The carpet was frayed and of the quality usually found in the office part of a warehouse. The floor underneath was uneven and even contained soft spots. The furniture was uncomfortable and saggy. The beds were yellowing and contained "ruts" from years of use. The unit was dusty to dirty at arrival and the foyer full of sand. The cleaning crew used the same rag on every surface, leaving scummy film on mirrors, the microwave and even the glass dining table. The kitchen utensils and pots and pans were a hodgepodge of bent, dull or rusty metal. Every exhaust fan in the house was louder than an airplane prior to take off.
Rather than continuing to ramble, do NOT trade in, rent or even visit the Village.
