We traveled to Myrtle Beach on Monday, July 9th. We had reservations at another hotel for July 10th, so we checked in at that particular hotel and were disgusted by the room. We had wanted to stay at Island Vista but the dates we needed weren't available. After getting a refund at the other hotel, we went up to Island Vista and were immediately greeted by the lady at the front desk. She was superb! I don't remember her name, but she was super friendly and very helpful. We explained our situation to her and she was able to get us a room for Monday through Thursday nights. She gave us a key card and told us to feel free to look around and make sure it was satisfactory. We checked out our room and immediately went downstairs to book the room. My husband stayed here when it was the old Sea Island hotel, so he was familiar with the beach and all. As it turned out, one of the security guards from Sea Island still worked there, as did the gentleman who loaded our bags and took them to our room.
I don't think the web site goes into detail on this, but this isn't just a regular hotel room. We had room 712, which is a one-bedroom suite that included two queen beds, a nice bathroom with granite countertops, a full kitchen with granite countertops, a washer/dryer combo, a nice living room with a murphy bed and a fantastic view of the ocean. The suite was super clean and everything was just above and beyond what we expected.
For the cost of the room, you really can't beat the cleanliness, the service, and the entire atmosphere. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and helpful. The beach area itself was very clean. The pools were great. We have a six-year-old and a five-year-old who loved the kiddie pool.
We were also given a gift card to use in the on-site restaurant. Dinner was great, as was the service. We were able to sit and look out at the ocean while we ate. It doesn't get much better than that.
There is also a large porch area with tables and rocking chairs. It's a great place to just stop and relax.
Parking is tricky, but I have yet to find a hotel where parking isn't an issue. We have a large SUV to the parking garages freaked me out a little bit, but we just ended up parking outside as this was more convenient and worked out better for us.
I know that a few people have complained about little issues here, but I will be the first to recommend the Island Vista. We had a fantastic experience thanks to Island Vista! If we could give them more than five stars, we would!
