“excellent place to stay - 1st class b&b.”

Brookside Guest House

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at this beautiful b&b, I have never stayed in a B&B of which the standard has been so high, as good as any 1st class hotel and I think it would be pretty hard to beat. We especially enjoyed the cakes and tea on arrival! John and Tess have thought of everything to make your stay a lovely time - thanks!!

The unassuming exterior of this property hides what must be one of the best B&B experiences in S W England. We stayed for 3 nights and would unhesitatingly recommend this for a peaceful break. Located far enough from town to be quiet but not so far as to be beyond walking distance the Brookside experience is one to be savoured. The room was a little small but was more than compensated for by the range of amenities and quality of fittings which were way beyond anything we have experienced elsewhere in the UK and well deserving of the gold award accreditied to this establishment. The pot of tea and muffins which greeted us on arrival were the ideal tonic after a weary day of travelling and the hospitality and helfpfulness of our hosts simply outstanding. The breakfasts were good enough to leave us wishing they also served dinner! Even in late February/early March the back garden was a mass of colour and would be an ideal summer sunspot. It becomes difficult to justify the additional cost of staying in a hotel when B&B gets this good!

My mother and I rang and asked for a twin or two singles, when we arrived John showed us each to a double room. The rooms are immaculate and very well stocked with extra little touches, waffle gowns, toiletries, etc all of excellent quality. The rooms are individually decorated to a very high standard, and absolutely spotless. (I have stayed in so called boutique hotels that were not a patch on Brookside).
We stayed in winter so did not sample the garden, but it looked as well tended as the house. When we arrived John & Tess were very welcoming, offering fresh tea and cake.
After a great nights sleep in a very comfy bed, breakfast! A very thorough choice, cereals, fresh fruit and all sorts of hot choices(cooked to order)-fantastic.
All in all we cannot recommend Brookside highly enough.

“Perfection”

Brookside Guest House

4 Nov 2007

My occupation takes me throughout the country on various marine construction projects, obviously I like to be as comfortable as possible when working away from home but I do not have a five star hotel allowance. I need not have worried 'Brookside' is the best guest house experience I have come across for many years. Having stayed there for the duration of the project I was managing I could not recommend it enough. John & Tess are excellent hosts and they clearly enjoy making sure all guests are happy. 'Brookside' certainly deserves the 'Best Guest House in Brixham' title.
