Cheap room at £45 for our one night stay. On entry to the room a weird smell was present. The carpet hadn't been cleaned and various peoples hairs were dotted around the room. Bathroom had a mould issue. Worst point is the shower head position. This cannot be moved and my partner, who is 5.1" could not stand up underneath it! The room generally left you feeling unclean. The two bed lights flickered on and off repeatedly, making tinkering noises, when turned on. Only good point is the price.

Stayed here for two nights for a friends wedding in Devon. Stayed in a family romm (2 adults and a 5yr old). Pull out bed for child was not much cop so we all slept in the double bed which didn't bother us but may bother some people. For it's purpose it was good and very very cheap. (£58 in total for all 3 of us for 2 nights). It was what a travelodge is. Decent sized room, clean functional bathroom, tea and coffe facilities and TV. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. What more do you want form a travelodge or any hotel for that price! If it's just a place to rest your head for a couple of nights then it's perfect.

  • Liked — The price
  • Disliked — The gresay haired night receptionist!

Well , based on the other reviews I was not looking forward to this stay. We were going to a wedding and due to us not being very organised this was the only place in the area left! :)
I was dreading staying here so as well as our luggage we packed our own sheets , pillows and I also had bin bags and cleaning products.
Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be the cleanest and friendliest Travelodge I have stayed in.
Due to car problems we didnt arrive until 1.30 am on the first night - the night porter was really polite.
The room (Room 14) was very clean , the towels pristine , the bathroom spotless and the bed comfortable. The room was nice and warm and for a roadside lodge really quiet. I even looked under the bed ( not something I normally do I must add!) and there wasnt even a bit of fluff!. Apart from the biggest spider I have seen in the UK ( whom I ejected from the room via the window) there was nothing to complain about!
We stayed here 2 nights and were perfectly comfortable , obviously you dont expect the height of luxury in a Travelodge but it was clean and very comfortable. I used the WiFi service ( £10 for 24hrs ) and it was very easy to use and really fast.
On our departure a member of staff trotted after us just to ask if everything was ok during our stay. I have not had that courtesy in some 5 star hotels! :)
Also we had breakfast in the next door Little Chef on both mornings and again it was perfectly adequate.
All in all the Travelodge was a nice stay and did exactly what was expected. Maybe they took notice of the bad reviews and did something about it but I saw no evidence of the stuff that went on those reviews-and I for one am very happy that the cleaning stuff stayed in the boot!
I did take some photos of the room and I will upload them as soon as I have unpacked and found my camera cable! :)

  • Liked — Cost us £30 a night for the room and it was cleaner than some 4 stars we have stayed in!
  • Disliked — Wish they would have a shower you could use while you are lying in the bath

This is indeed quite possibly the worst hotel in Britain. I was greeted by the receptionist who handed me the key and said "you are in room 26- I think thats upstairs"!!!!
The bathroom was dirty and stank of stale urine, paint is chipped off the walls and the place is generally depressing. I know its a value hotel and I wasnt expecting the ritz but this is no excuse for such a shabby interior and experience. If you can at all help it stay in a local B&B. This is my first time in a Travelodge and I can say for sure that I'll be steering well clear of this chain in future and looking for a premier inn where possible.

  • Liked — The exit to the carpark, though the shower was powerful
  • Disliked — The whole shabby experience

I stayed here as I had a business appointment nearby. But all the other reviews are correct. Hairs in my bathroom, shabby, tired interior. Little Chef was bad. I stay away from them like the plague, but was not in the mood to drive again, having done 400 miles already. I stay in many Travelodges, but this one is indeed a sad affair.
