We stayed in the cottages at Willingcott Valley purely for a holiday , as we have visited Woolacombe before and love it there , we dont play golf , but for the purposes of me, my wife and our eight month old son it was perfect. The cottage was a compact size, and equipped with washing machine, microwave , oven, TV & Video and small stereo and decent bathroom, perfect for holidaying with small children. It was clean when we arrived, there was a slight issue that the bathroom smelt as though someone had peed in it, and hadn't cleaned up ! however on ringing the agent , a cleaner was sent ,and resolved it very quickly. The bed linen was a bit poor quality and I would recommend taking your own pillows and duvet covers etc , as the ones provided are functional but not super comfortable. Outside of the cottage are lovely grounds , with loads of birds, a duck pond, no traffic noise or aircraft noise , very quiet and really pleasant place to sit and have a glass of wine. There is a nice bar and clubhouse associated with the golf club which serves decent beers, and wine etc, and the staff are friendly. There is a outdoor pool which is well maintained ,and warm . The location is a couple of miles from Woolacombe town, and you will need to drive there as there is a very steep hill down to the beach, to keep costs under control we bought our own food , and cooked and ate at the cottage , and there was provision of all plates , cutlery , and also a safe high chair which our eight month old used. You are located within easy reach of Croyde , Georgeham, Woolacombe, & Ilfracombe , Croyde and Woolacombe are both quality beaches and offer good surfing and safe swimming etc. In all it was a great location for a short break , and was really convenient with a young child.
Our only slight criticism was that while the cottage was clean when we arrived, there was the pee issue which as solved quickly , but it had the feel of being slightly damp and as if it had been closed up for a while with no tenants, this was gone within a day or so as we left windows open , and were running the washing machines and TV etc , however as we were booked in , the windows at least upstairs could have been opened, and the place aired slightly. Its a minor issue , but it would have changed my review from very good to excellent !
