Went on an average day weather wise. Paid £7 to park (gulp).
The tide was out but there was a disproportionate amount of dry/wet sand (as in miles of wet and a small patch of dry) considering how far out the sea was.
My first tip here would be, make sure you have a large rug to sit on as the chances of you getting a dry bit to sit on are small.
Then, as you enter the beach I would advise you get a windbreak. Or three. As the beach is very windy indeed. You can hire them for £1.50 each, but wait for it...with a five pound deposit! So should you need say three windbreaks and four deck chairs, make sure you have handfuls of cash on you for a comfortable stay.
The beach attracts the outdoor beach types: surfers, beach volleyballers etc. It is not your usual bucket and spade type beach. You feel a bit inadequate in your Bermuda trunks with everyone around you in wetsuits. Maybe that is just me.
The kids loved it. I was indifferent. It was an expensive trip to a beach in my opinion, when you consider the parking charges.
Not sure I would visit Woolacombe Beach again.
