“Quiet with good food”

Eype's Mouth Country Hotel

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a few days this month in a superior double room (number 9). Our room was a reasonable size which was quiet and clean. It had a queen sized double bed, a large wardrobe but would have benefited from more table space and a chest of draws. It had a view across to the sea about a quarter of a mile away. The bathroom was of a good size and seemed to have been recently decorated as had the bedroom itself.

The restaurant shared a similar view to our bedroom where the food at both breakfast and dinner was freshly cooked to order and was very good. The only improvement to either meal we can recommend is fresh fruit juices at breakfast. Staff in the restaurant were young and very keen to please (with one being from Latvia and another from Columbia) who provided friendly efficient service. There was a reasonable choice of good value wines.

During our stay a number of residents had bought their dogs which the hotel owners encourage no doubt as they are dog owners themselves. They weren’t noisy and not allowed in the restaurant though one family appeared to prefer to have dinner with their dog in a small room that could be partitioned off from the lounge. The lounge itself wasn’t very inviting and needs decorating, more furniture and some other touches to give it more warmth.

The location, our superior bedroom and the food make this a good hotel. We hope that the owners will be able to invest in the public areas of the hotel to make it an excellent hotel.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a few days this month and were pleased with the quality of the service, cleanliness of the hotel and the quality of the food. The owners and their staff were friendly and helpful.
We got the impression that the owners had only recently taken over the hotel and although in some areas the fabric of the building needs some work our room was in good condition and very comfortable. A nice touch was a form in the Information Pack to allow you to report any faults with the room.
The hotel is in a secluded location and took some finding but this meant that it was quiet and convenient for walks on the Dorset Coastal Path and the nearby beach, although this is pebbles and shingle and not easy for walking.

refreshed again is how my wife and i feel after alittle weekend break at Eypes Mouth. This was our first visit to the hotel ,but know the area very well. We,ve traveled all over world and nothing beats a good welcome which is what we got .The standard rm did feel alittle cramp but was clean tidy the upgraded rms were all full at our time of booking .Overall the owners glenys and kevin are working hard to build up and maintain a classic english hotel, the staff are all very freindly and helpful, the food 5star,with menus changed daily. Its position is fantastic,a short walk from the beach and footpaths everywhere. For the money we paid bed,bfast,3course dinner you cant go wrong.well done all at Eypes mouth we will recomend see you again .regards mr ,mrs L.

My Wife and I and two other couples have just returned from a weekend at The Eype's Mouth Country Hotel which is set in a wonderful location with marvelous views. Its just up from the sea and there are great walks in both directions. Our hosts at the Hotel went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable and provided for our every need. A well stocked bar, resonably priced wine list and well kept beer are important and a pleasant Local The new in just up the lane made it perfect for me. The choice and quality of the food at the Hotel is good and friendly local staff made meals very enjoyable. We had a great walk in the direction of Lyme Regis and hope to return next year and go the oposite way.

“Peaceful Location”

Eype's Mouth Country Hotel

This is quite an old hotel which is in need of a little tlc. Having said that, the new owners have already carried out some refurbishment and the room we stayed in was clean and functional. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast deserves a mention: locally sourced produce, perfectly cooked - superb.

The smugglers bar is open all day and makes for a great stop-off after walking or swimming. Lovelly patio area to enjoy drinks in the sun!

The location is fantastic if you are looking for real peace and quiet. The hotel is about 500m from Eype beach at the end of a single track road (beware of speeding locals in white vans!), so the area is not particularly busy.

The beach is mainly pebbles so take some footwear if swimming. The water becomes quite deep quickly, so beware.

The hotel is very convenient for walking, both across the cliffs to Westbay (fantastic views) and also inland where there is some spectacular countryside. The hotel provides walking guides which are very useful.

Eype is part of the "Jurassic Coast", but the fossil hunting is better further west at Charmouth or Lyme Regis.
