I'm a semi regular at this chip shop because historically it's been good. Good chips, well cooked and beautifully tasty fish, in fact would have been a 5* rating, till recently - and especially tonight. BTW I drive ten miles for my fish'n chips, so like to get reliable service.
To me it seems to have become quite variable in quality, with sometimes the fish being overcooked and dry as at my last visit perhaps two/three weeks ago, and the previous one had batter not fully cooked and showing some signs of undercooking in the fish's taste and appearance. Any time the two Kevins were there the quality was always v.high, but haven't seen either of them for a while now? Could be I'm only going on their time off? - no idea.
But tonight I drove, as usual, ten miles for my fish'n chips hoping for a resurgance of previous quality, to find the door locked in my face at 9.15pm, and staff merely shrugged off my gesticulations through the glass as of no consequence. Why the early closure? No idea.
So I went along to the big chippy, knowing it's usually pretty reliable, and had a very good FSupper indeed. More expensive perhaps, but tonight's really was The Biz,
However I would dearly love to be able to rave again about WeeChippy's products but until there's some signs of a reliable improvement, that'll be that. If they have too many customers with impressions similar to mine they'll just slide back into the realm of the Also Rans, for which I don't need to drive to Anstruther!
