My wife and stayed for one night having booked through Hotel Connexions and overall the experience was reasonably positive and good value for the £70 DBB.
The room was very small and essentially was the size of a large single. However as it has a double bed there was barely room either side of the bed to stand, and it literally was a case of edging along sideways. We managed to sneak a look into a couple of other rooms which seemed of a similar size but we also saw into one of the bigger rooms that are shown on their website and it did look pretty good. Get what you pay for?
Apart from the size, the room was OK as it was bright and well furnished with a flat screen TV (built in DVD) and the usual tea and coffee etc. The bathroom was a decent size but the shower was pretty pathetic – it would definitely benefit from a pump!
Our rate included dinner which was a la carte and measured up iwell n both presentation and food. Unfortunately the dining room is quite a big space and as it was quite quiet the experience seemed a bit formal however the service was good and the relaxed staff certainly helped the occasion.
Our experience at the bar was mixed. As you would expect it is quite small with not a lot of atmosphere but there’s a large TV in the corner so they’ve pretty much made the best of the space. It was a little disappointing though not to have any draught beer available and it was slightly uncomfortable having the barman sitting drinking at a table with family/friends but he was pretty good at going back to the bar when we wanted served.
Overall would I go back? If I got a larger room, possibly but rather than take the risk I’d probably try somewhere else.
