We returned to the hotel for our 2nd wedding anniversary in January and once again, our stay was amazing! We booked a Corbett double and were on the second floor with breathtaking views across the loch, even when it is raining the view is fantastic. The room was warm and comfortable although we never really spend much time in the room. You can't beat relaxing by the fire next to reception, I love how the dogs wander around, it makes the place feel like home for me,

We stayed for two nights and had two fantastic meals, I would always recommend booking dinner, b&b as is it great value for money.

The swimming pool and leisure centre is in the annex of the hotel - easy enough to find and it has excellent facilities.

The staff are always very attentive to us and treat us like old friends when we arrive, no complaints there whatsoever!

Once again, a perfect getaway - 10/10!

“Enjoyed watching swimmers in the loch!”

Lodge on Loch Lomond

1 Apr 2008

Having paid a lot of money the hallways here seemed a little shabby. But this was more than made up for with the fantastic room, excellent view and beautiful bathroom. There is also a really nice pool and relaxing bar area. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had, with the added novelty of watching 2 men go swimming in the Loch at 8AM on a very chilly March morning!

“Wonderful Weekend”

Lodge on Loch Lomond

Just back from staying at this hotel and it was amazing. I booked a hot stone massage for the day I arrived and it really was the best start to my weekend.

We booked a Munro room which is in the new building, which also housed the amber spa which has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and laconium. We used the spa facilities every day, even this morning before we checked out!

We took a lovely stroll along the beach into Luss and drove up to Inverary. The scenery is just amazing.

We booked Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, which I am quite glad at as the 3 course meal in the restaurant was £30 each. The lounge area, just off the restaurant, was very relaxing and you could sit there all night.

When the owners built this hotel, they really knew what they were doing. Everything faces onto the Loch, the rooms, the restaurant and the spa facilities!

“Very Disappointed”

Lodge on Loch Lomond

31 Mar 2008

With 4 stars and a price of almost £400 for the two nights I thought I had booked well. I wished I had read some of these reviews before hand.

From the moment we arrived I realised we were just another number.

The problems started before we arrived with the website not having very much information on the Spa they rely on so heavily. They advise you to book treatments well in advance but can give you no information - There is no leaflet, no price list, no details of what is available. When I plucked up the courage to ask for details I was told that they "just do the usual stuff, you know and we only have one person on at the weekends".

The Corbett Double was tatty with cigarette burns on the carpet and dust you could write your name in along the back of the sofa, the toilet tiling was badly finished, with grouting smeared about like colouring that couldn't be kept in the lines. The bath was so small that I, at a tiny 5'3" could not lie down in it, my partner is 6' and had to lie with his legs dangling over the edge.

I was going to make use of the fridge as I had expected a minibar but this had been removed, not sure why.

The television sytem was broken. When I called to find out how to get the on screen information service working I was interrupted by a very impatient person telling me that "the movie channels weren't available" in a manner that sounded like she expected me to already be aware of this situation. This was not fixed at any time during our stay.

Dinner was the highlight with some good dishes but even at that on the Saturday my steak arrived dry and over cooked. My partner loved his lamb though - I think they were just very inconsistent. The staff were pleasant but not dedicated hospitality people, anything out of the ordinary seemed to throw them.

I got little sleep as the place was noisy at night and in the morning.

We are quite private people and enjoy quiet mornings - Breakfast order to room both days arrived incorrect. We were told we'd have to get up early on the Sunday if we wanted it in room though there was nothing of this in any of the literature. It arrived half an hour late and cold. My egg was half cooked. I did not complain at the time because by that point I was so disillusioned I just wanted to go home. Finally the checkout time is quoted inconsistently in literature as 10.30am or 11am.

This hotel is certainly not 4 star by any stretch of the imagination I feel very disappointed and quite misled.

“Stunning View”

The lodge was as wooden and creaky as a lodge should be. Go for the great location right on the Loch, chance to walk along the shore line, and the beautiful mountains. A very easy and scenic drive from Glasgow. The 20m pool is located in the second building, set back from the main lodge, along with sauna, steam & laconium [a hot seat – don’t forget to put a towel down first!].

The only con was that we booked a Xmas package which included dinner & disco that evening. We did not think this was particularly good value for money, and suggest you stay away from the packages. Although, must factor in less hassle, and we did not have to drive at the end of the evening. Even if you decide to dine in the restaurant one evening, you would be better off with a la carte. Hot breakfast was also included.

The registration desk seemed crowded at both check in/check out, and that was on a busy holiday weekend (does not help that this is a small area). Plan your time and avoid the peak check out time.
