We stayed for three nights. We booked the luxury room, which had views straight on to the loch from both the sitting room and the bedroom. If this room is not available when you book, don't despair, as many if not all the rooms have views on to the loch. Six of the rooms are in a separate block, and could be described as en suite appartments rather than rooms, as each has its own front door and the main room has enough in the way of facilities to enable guests to make toast and tea and sit in comfortable chairs drinking in the view. (The luxury appartment has three rooms.) Milk is provided.
The owner, Patrick, has built up this exceptional place over 12 years, and has plans to make it even more special. The sea plane lands outside in season, and it is possible to fly in to Glasgow Airport and pick up the 'plane from the Clyde. What a way to arrive!
A tarmac path runs in both directions from the Guest House, and Patrick has bicycles for guests to use. For those wishing to climb Ben Lomond, Patrick can take you - or arrange to have you taken - across the water to Rowardennan to pick up the footpath. And you will be collected afterwards!
Patrick serves a breakfast to die for. A cooked breakfast with ingredients that taste how they are meant to, preceded by a bowl of porridge, will keep you going for several hours.
This is a truly special place. You can be sure of a relaxed, genuine concern that your stay should be just how you want it to be, even if you just want to be left alone. Even under the heavy showers of early March, the scenery was beautiful to behold. The experience of staying at Culag is one of the 100 things you really must do before you die.

We spent 2 nights at Culag at the beginning of February. We had a great room...... well it was a mini apartment really and looked directly out onto the Loch where the view was stunning. The room was lovely and clean with everything we needed.
Breakfast was great and set us up well for the day.Luckily the weather was so mild that we even sat out in the evening enjoying the view across the Loch while drinking champagne.
Patrick, the host, was excellent suggesting places to eat and most scenic routes to take to the surrounding Loch's. We went out of season and the village of Luss was very quiet with the walk back in the dark very interesting, although Patrick did offer to lend us a torch next time!!
While there we drove to Ben Nevis approx 75 miles away, one of the most beautiful drives and we had to keep stopping to take it all in.
We will definatly be back, looking forward to a trip on the sea plane that stops at the end of Culag's very own jetty.
In all the best place to stay in the area by far.......don't bother looking for anywhere else to stay.

Just came back from a short weekend away from home and stayed at Culag for 1 night. Loved the place, and the view obviously. Although we had booked 2 rooms, we had no problem to change for a familly room once on site as it was actually best for us. We had a great view from our bedroom direct to the loch and had a walk along the shore first thing in the morning. The room was clean and modern and the owners are very nice.
I would recommand it for people looking for a nice place to stay near Loch Lomond, Very near it actually.

We had a 2-night stay to coincide with a Red Letter Day seaplane trip (even though the planes takes off and lands at the Guest House, this doesn't seem to be widely advertised. Odd as it is THE place to stay). Our Host Patrick is a lovely fella, who simply couldn't do enough for us - he gave us a lift into town in the evening, even offered to pick us up after we'd been out! The accomodation is great, we stayed in one of the rooms in the annexe, which is modern, clean and set up with fridge & cutlery etc. - should you wish to dine in. The setting idyllic, right on the banks of the Loch with superb views. The only downside was that we struggled to find somewhere decent to eat in Luss - that said, we were out of season and a lot of places had closed for the winter. Definitely somewhere that we would return to - if only to see the lovely Patrick again.

We recently stayed one night at the Culag after reading the reviews on TA. As stated by others, it is certainly a wonderful, above average B&B experience just north of Luss and Loch Lomond Shores with beautiful views. Patrick, the owner, greeted us warmly and showed us to our room which was in a cluster of rooms seperate from the main house. The room was clean and nicely decorated with many amenities, a very large ensuite bathroom and french doors that open out to a common courtyard overlooking the water. There was only a shower in the bathroom which suited us fine, but if you are particular in having a tub you may want to inquire when you book. The breakfast in the conservatory was above average for a full breakfast with lots of food.
We booked this over the phone as we couldn't find an email address for corresponding. This was a bit inconvenient, not only for international toll charges but mostly in trying to coordinate with the time difference. The first time I called I talked to a nice woman that took only my name and the date. I found it a little odd that they didn't need a credit card to hold the reservation. This made me a little nervous so I called a few weeks before we were to arrive to confirm and Patrick assured me all was in order.
The location of the Culag on the loch is certainly a big drawing point. There is a paved path that winds between the shore and highway that is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Lodge on Loch Lomond for that quick pint . The A82 highway runs right next to the property so it can be rather busy and noisy with traffic, but we didn't hear it in the room. Overall we would recommend this for the nice, clean rooms, wonderful management and beautiful views.
