We booked our weekend break through The Sun £9.50 holidays. We wasn't expecting much for the price we paid! We arrived to check in at our designated time of 4pm, and was given clear instructions on how to get to our caravan. Upon arrival, we discovered we had actually been upgraded to a deluxe caravan for no extra charge. The beds were made (even though we hadn't booked or paid or linen!), we had a flat screen TV and DVD player and an extra bedroom. We felt that this was a lovely gesture and got our holiday off to a good start. We was lucky enough to have glorious sun all weekend. The park is in a good location, right next to the beach, although people with mobility problems would struggle to get down the steps to the beach. The Mash & Barrel Pub was overpriced and not goot portions. The Chip shop is very bland and hardly edible. The swimming pool is quite boring, not much to do other than the slide and the lazy river. The lazy river looks massive on the net-it isn't! It is very small and often closed. It was closed 2 days out of our 4! The evening entertainment is usual for Haven, cheesy but the kids love it! Ours are 4 & 6 and we hardly saw them in the evenings. The staff are not as pushy with selling flashing tat as they are at other Haven sites. The rubbish collectors are horrendous though, twice my children were eating at the table in the Showbar and the collectors took their food away before they had finished. I complained but I was never offered an apology. The park has a lovely funfair & donkey rides (funfair is £2 per child and donkeys are £3 per child). They also have crazy golf and a ice cream van. We went to Rhyl which is a lovely seaside town, and Conwy Castle which is about 40 mins away but lovely place to visit. We had a couple of problem with our caravan, the first being the electric kept tripping out. The maintenance man was there in less than 10 minutes. It was our iron that kept tripping it out! If you take an iron, make sure it's 2000w or less or it won't work! The second problem was ANTS!! They was everywhere. Reception didn't have any spray and said we would have to purchase our own. We couldn't move caravans as the park was full. We bought some in Rhyl and the problem was sorted. The only other problem we had was very 'loud' people in the Showbar. The entertainer informed us that most of the people was from Manchester that weekend and we experienced fighting, swearing and broken glass everywhere. Two girls were even fighting in the toilets. No need whatsoever at a children's holiday resort. We were often kept awake until 2am with loud shouting and drunken behaviour. Again, I think there is no need for this behaviour. Will I return? No, not to this park!
