On the advice of fellow tripadvisor guests, we booked to stay here for two nights at the end of July.

It was as good as everyone had said. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out, everything looks fresh, new and clean. We had the family room which is at the rear of the property so no seaview, but is tucked away so nice and quiet. Good bathroom with lots of neat touches like M&S toiletries, nice little lounge area with big settee plus TV with built-in video with a wide range of videos provided - great for kids on a rainy day! King bed for us (a bit hard for our liking) and bunks for our 6 y-o son.

Breakfast was really good, abundant supply of fresh fruit, muesli, nice cooked options (great little sausages).

No restaurant, but Julie at the hotel was very helpful in giving us information about where to eat locally at the time we made our reservation. This was really useful as it is pretty much essential to book well in advance. We ate out at two good bistro style establishments a short walk down the High Street - Poacher's (nice menu, best chips I've tasted for years!) and Granville's (slightly more up market, but less organised, be prepared for a wait). Both had good children's menu too. Poacher's provided crayons.

Criccieth is a nice little place to stay, don't miss the Castle which gives wonderful views of the coast.

We'll certainly be back - thanks, Julie and Noreen.

Just returned from 4 days golf in glorious weather in North Wales. Stayed at this attractive, friendly B&B. The rooms were immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were helpful and friendly the breakfast had a very good range of fruit and cereal and the full English was great.

I would definately recommend this to friends.

“A lovely hotel.”

Excellent value for money. A lovely hotel with friendly owners. Well decorated throughout - with nice touches in the rooms which included biscuits, body lotion and a flat screen television which raised it well above the 'tired' B&B stereotype. An attractive lounge which had views of the sea and castle with good furnishings and fresh flowers. Located conveniently within easy walking distance of a good choice of restaurants. Highly recommended.

“Best ever experience”

My wife and I have stayed in many hotels in many places and paid very high rates for much inferior hotels.
The Glyn Y Coed is without doubt the best experience we have had.
Cleanliness could not be bettered.
Friendliness was a joy.
Location was superb.
Breakfast was a pleasure and very satisfying. You could not wish to start the day better.
All this for a very reasonable rate.
Superb. Try it.

“Little disappointing”

Glyn-y-Coed Hotel

Stayed for 2 nights in June. Yes, the place looks beautiful. Outstandingly clean, tastefully decorated and furnished, great location and views. Was somewhat disappointed with the lack of a friendly personal touch. The presence of the owners was rather sporadic. On arrival we were given a welcome letter and key. Later other guests due for arrival were left letters and keys outside in the mailbox with a note stuck to the front door. I know it can’t be helped at busy times but it just felt like we were the latchkey guests of ‘ghost’ owners. These are obviously very nice people who are short of time. Some will love this ultra hands-off approach but it wasn’t for us. I guess we may not have noticed so much if we hadn’t read the earlier rave reviews. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment; just not enjoyable and most of it tasteless. We love Criccieth though, it’s beautiful. Ate in Poachers and Granvilles; both OK food but preferred Granvilles – a peculiar vibe in Poachers. The fish & chip shop is great too but found the Tea Rooms near the Craft Centre disappointing. Blue China (on the prom) is always good for coffee because of the view.
