“Expensive mistake”

Stayed at this hotel for 2 days after our Wedding and were expecting grand things!! WRONG!
At first things seemed ok..stunning place..room was a bit of a let down, brochure description...alittle off the mark..furnished with wonderful antiques...not in our room! The best Argos has to offer I'm afraid!
Usual extras..tea/coffee makings..no posh smellies, infact got same stuff when we had to stay over in a travelodge later in the year!
Had asked for a bottle of champagne for our arrival and yes it was there, but the ice had melted, so rang to ask for another bucket of ice and it was brought..only when we checked our bill at the end did we find they had charged us £3 for a fresh bucket!...a bit cheeky when we had paid £220 a night for 2 nights!
The crowning moment was when we were called into the managers office as we were having a pre-dinner drink for a right dressing down, as we had left our room in an untidy state, and when the maid went to turn down the bed, had informed the mananger!!
Yes, my wifes Wedding gown was draped across the bed and our case was open on a chair and a bathrobe was on the floor and as we had come from our wedding the odd bit of confetti had followed us and scattered itself about the room. Also..we had taken some candles and thought what a lovely way to unwind after our wedding day would be a candle lit jacuzzi bath and a glass of champagne, the said candles having been blown out and placed safely before going for dinner...we were told that the hotel does not allow candles in any area as it is a firehazard etc etc..and if they were to be lit again we would be escorted from the hotel (jawdropping moment)
Had to gape as went into Dining room...lit candles everywhere!!!!!
We suffered dinner...staff glaring melevolently at us!
I wanted to pack and leave but my wife didnt want to make a fuss so we stayed for the 2 nights and it was the longest 2 nights EVER! Infact my wife was so upset by our incident the first night, couldnt even face having dinner again, so we skulked around in our "room" like 2 naughty schoolkids!
We left..very early on our last morning..having parted with the best part of £500 for 2 days!
We have stayed at lots of hotels, some very grand others not so grand, but never have we felt like we were made to feel at this place...yes Pale hall left a very pale imprint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stayed in Pale Hall for a weekend and it was absolutely delightful. The rooms and views were stunning and the food was wonderful. I highly recomend Pale Hall to anyone. I particuarly enjoyed the surroundings and there were many chances for long peaceful walks in the mountains.
