this is a traditional small hotel, artex walls and deep red swirly carpets. it has a 80s sort of feel. it was very clean and the room size was adequate. it had every thing you need for a weekend break. the break fast was plentiful but lacked local flavour and products.(cheep sausage etc.).
the hotel is in a lovely position at the top of the village. it has 3 pubs near by. i would recommend the stag. good home cooked food and fantastic and welcoming staff and locals.
the staff in the hotel were ok. they didn't waste words but were not impolite.it seemed that they were all just going through the motions. the locals at the pub told us that many customers had told them similar stories.
however the hotel is fairly priced, the bed comfortable, there was always hot water and facilities to make a drink, it just needed lined curtains to stop the early morning light.. this hotel is a good base for a short break. we enjoyed the village and the location. there are many walks in this area and both the coast and the countryside were fantastic. a lovely peaceful getaway from the madding crowd. worth a try.
