We have traveled to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area every year for the last ten years or so, but we have always stayed in Gatlinburg, and more recently, have only stayed in chalets or cabins.

We decided to make a trip to the area as an "end of the summer vacation" and to visit our oldest son who lives nearby.

We wanted to save money on accommodations this time so that we'd have more money to do cheesy tourist stuff, so we decided to book a room in Pigeon Forge. After researching hotels on TripAdvisor, I decided on EconoLodge-Riverside.

COST/VALUE
We stopped at the Welcome Center as soon as you enter Tennessee (traveling southbound) and found a coupon to get a room for $39.99 a night for two adults (in August). At that price, we decided to book adjoining rooms, one for us and one for our two boys (16 and 19). This hotel was WELL worth the price. It would have been $69.99 a night for all four of us in one room, and it was worth the difference to book two.

STAFF
The front desk staff were VERY friendly and cooperative. The cleaning staff was hospitable. We chose not to utilize housekeeping for a couple of the nights, but did request clean towels when they showed up at the door. There was a language barrier and a bit of difficulty getting a couple of them to understand what we were asking for (not a big deal), but we worked through it and got what we needed.

CLEANLINESS
The room was very clean, and we saw staff cleaning all the time - not just the rooms, but the elevators, the hallways, the common areas...

ROOM
The room was smaller than we are used to (it would have been a TIGHT fit had we squeezed in one room, with four adults) but with the adjoining room it was perfect! Each room had a microwave, refrigerator, counterspace, and lots of storage. Closets, drawers, cabinets...it was plenty of space for our five day stay.

BREAKFAST
We didn't ever take advantage of the continental breakfast so I can't comment on that.

POOL
Since we stayed throughout the week and in an "off" month, there were no crowds and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub several nights. There were plenty of clean towels at the pool area and the pool area was as clean as the rest of the hotel.

OTHER
We had a room that was very convenient to the elevators and stairs. The hotel itself was very convenient to nearby restaurants and attractions.

The hotel offered free WiFi and we had a very strong signal. Very happy with that.

One of my favorite parts was the ducks out back. We fed them several times and the whole family enjoyed that.

I booked this hotel specifically because of the reviews I read on TripAdvisor, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone looking for a nice, clean, inexpensive place to stay while in the area. We would definitely book there again.

The Econo Lodge Riverside provided 24 hour maintenance and cleaning personnel. The sink was adjoined with a counter and cabinets that had plenty of storage space for food etc. It had had solid wood cabinets, two closets and a dresser. The price was right for the mountains and the staff was very courteous. The continental breakfast could use some fresh fruit but was still good for the money. Our view was on the backside which had the river running by it. Next trip to Pigeon Forge will be at that hotel! We stayed for a whole week and loved it. Very reasonable price for Pigeon Forge!

First we were a group of eight....Grandparents, parents and 4 children between 13 and 4. When we arrived at the hotel the lobby was very impressive and the staff was friendly, courteous and was even able to give us 2 connecting rooms (which were not guaranteed when we made our reservation, first come first serve basis). We had a great AAA rate of $63/nt from a Sun.-Tues. The hotel was sold out for our stay.

I have to say that the hotel layout is quite confusing with lots of hallways, stairs in weird places, and befuddling twists and turns! We were glad that we didn't have to use a luggage cart as we saw lots of other people trying to wrangle them up stairs or through the lobby doors! Once we arrived at our rooms, we were impressed by the huge nicely decorated room with two closets, a 6 drawer dresser, a microwave, refrigerator and counter space for being able to make sandwiches or reheat leftovers from the many restaurants near-by.

We were able to connect wirelessly to internet and had no problems with that.

Housekeeping was very thorough.

Noise levels were very quiet. I really never heard anyone else. Of course that could have been because we were the ones making all the noise.

The pool was perfect for my kids and there were always plenty of pool towels available. My only concern was the water was very cloudy and it smelled pretty heavily of chlorine.

Breakfast was adequate with oatmeal, cereal, biscuits and gravy, apples, bananas, and juice or milk. The problem was that any time I went down for breakfast, I had to wait 10 minutes in line to get anything to eat!

We brought pizza in one night and ate in the outdoor courtyard at picnic tables. Just perfect!

It was located only an 8 minute drive (depending on traffic) from Dollywood. A few minutes from great dining, entertainment and an outlet mall. There were a couple of eating places within walking distance. Right next door to the Christmas Cottage shopping place.

All in all, it was a great value for the money we spent located on a river that was peaceful and relaxing. They even encouraged us to go out and feed the ducks! This was by far the best Econo Lodge I have ever seen or stayed in!!!!!

I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to family and friends.

We will be back to this hotel. We had a room on the back 1st floor and it was very quiet. Also the room was very clean, although it was kind of small, so I wouldn't recommend it for a couple bringing along more than one small child. We had a king room, so maybe the double bed rooms are larger. It was really cool to just open up our door, walk across the parking lot and play in the river. The ducks were so much fun too! I loved how the hotel had vending machines so you could buy corn to feed them!
Breakfast was not a giant spread, but was very good. This is truly quality lodging for the price. This was our first time staying at the EconoLodge Riverside but I don't think that we will stay anywhere else now when looking for a hotel in Pigeon Forge!!

I was traveling alone with small children. I was attempting to push a cart full of luggage and balance 2 small children. When I asked the hotel clerks in the lobby where the elevator was they just pointed in a direction and explained that I had to go through a door, travel down a hall, go down the elevator, and walk around the building with my luggage and children. I was shocked that they didn't even offer to help with the luggage or even offer to hold the door open for me to get the cart down this hallway. I ended up having to just ditch the cart and walk our luggage and cooler up and down the steps...with small children!
Our room also had an adjoining door to the room beside us...it must have been made out of cardboard because we could hear EVERYTHING they did. Everytime they spoke it sounded as if they were in the room with us.
The continental breakfast consisted of muffins, toast, cereal, and canned fruit.
Only plus was that they do offer 10% student discount.
