While looking for wheelchair accessible hotel rooms in Buda, I found ONE at the Hampton Inn. The bottom floor room was spacious enough for a large, motorized chair. Bring a door stopper to hold the slowly closing doors. The staff was very polite and helpful. I appreciated having a microwave and a fridge. The bed was comfortable with the air and heat working well. (Texas weather !) It provided a roll-in shower. The drains worked a little slow so beware. The only problem was the flood that occurred after the shower. Not exactly sure how all that water escaped, but the slow working drain left a small pool on our bathroom floor. It didn't even help to use all the towels. Thankfully it finally drained and the efficient housekeeper brought us new towels. You can only roll in the front door so hopefully the 2 handicap parking spaces aren't taken. There are free cookies and coffee in the lobby. They serve a full breakfast (until 10 a.m) with waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit, oatmeal, breads w/ juices and coffee which is included with your room. There was a nice work-out room and pool on site. Ok.....what makes this hotel unique? It's right next door to Cabella's. You know, that fantastic - has everything - hunting and fishing store. You could walk through that gigantic store for hours. Almost like a still-life zoo. Buda is located between Austin and San Marcos. Easy drive to both. Buda is a small town but has a cute downtown and there are numerous restaurants throughout. A great one is "Cleveland's". Cracker Barrel is right around the corner from Hampton Inn. There is a burger place right next door if you get the munchies in the middle of the night and don't want to drive. Hampton Inn offers a snack shack behind the registration desk too. Melanie or "Mel" checked us in and out. She was very personable and I enjoyed meeting her. We enjoyed our stay and will be back !! :)
