For our 45th wedding anniversary, I decided to take my wife to the "Hill Country" of Texas and booked three nights in the American Eagle Nest B&B at Canyon Lake. How was it?
If you like a "Fish Camp" atmosphere, Jim Walter type homes, clutter and trash, plastic butterflies and whirlygigs, rooms so small the door will not open all the way and painted plywood cabinet and closet doors, this is the place for you.
However, if you are looking for something resembling the pictures on the website, be prepared to be disappointed. The pictures "MAY" have been taken from the house across the street, which does front the lake. However, your view is more like that of a not so nice suburban neighborhood. You "CAN"walk across the street and around the owner's house and gain access to the lake. But for $125.00 a night, that was not our "cup of tea."
We did not stay, but drove into New Braunfels, Tx and got a much, much better room in the Regal 8 motel at less than half the cost.
