This local Tex-Mex restaurant is one of the most interesting Mexican places I've ever visited.
With a huge menu of 170 items, they have something for everyone ranging from your basic taco, enchilada, rice and beans plate to quail to fajitas with a European bent to fried avocados. Based on my experience with the excellent fajitas romanos (beef fajitas with a mushroom and sun-dried tomato cream sauce), I'm thinking I could come back for years without working my way through the entire menu. My dish came with sides of rice, beans and guacamole and all were very good and included exquisite homemade tortillas. While the chips are factory made, the accompanying salsas (a red chipotle-based salsa and a green salsa) were very tasty. Decor is minimal, though definitely above a dive. Beer is reasonable at $3 for a bottle of Mexican beer. Those coming to Elgin for over-rated BBQ might be better off checking out this delicious place.
