Arrival and check-in - Like a lot of folks, I stopped here to break up a long drive. I was delayed and got there very late and very tired. This place is a little confusing to find from westbound I-10 - there are several twists and turns once you get off the highway. But the front desk staff immediately cheered me up. I don't remember her name, but the clerk was particularly friendly, helpful, and quick in getting me checked in.
Room - I paid a little extra for a room with a whirlpool tub, which is TOTALLY worth it if your shoulders are aching from fighting that wind on I-10! I wish the taps were actually labeled, because like I said, I was really tired and sore and wanted hot water quickly. But the tub was clean and comfortable and a nice amenity. I especially liked that there was enough tile around it to step out onto without dripping on the carpet and that the tub was situated in a corner with a large enough ledge to place a teacup and book. The room was clean and comfortable, too, with one weird exception - a used washcloth was hanging over the rod in the shower. Not sure what was up with that. Wifi was fast and easy to get working.
I slept through breakfast, so I can't comment on it.
Public areas - The lobby is surprisingly modern and attractive with plenty of comfy places to sit. I do want to point out the nice smoking area out back. There's a little gazebo with benches and a tall, tubular ashtray of the sort that you can drop a cigarette into without risking it flying out - smart for fire prevention in this dry, windy area.
Overall, a very comfortable place to break a journey with very nice staff.
If you've had a long day driving, spring for a room with a hot tub! Your shoulders will thank yo...
