This is the newest hotel I've ever stayed in, opened a scant seven months ago. Cute like an infant, but with a few problems and proud but inexperienced parents. Everything is bright and shiny and, well, new. Welcome to the modern Hampton Inn. Most noticeable is the size. The room was huge - the biggest standard room I've ever stayed in. Doors were extra wide, in the room, the elevator, everywhere. Very wide halls as well. A swimming pool that looks like it belongs in a resort. Check the hotel's website for a look. Kids will love it.
But there are a few improvements to be made and that can't be made. The breakfast was lacking in variety. Worse, some things ran out and the young lady in charge had no interest in replenishing them, nor of emptying the overflowing trash cans. Not that she was very busy; there were only four couples at breakfast.
In the room itself, like a baby, there was noise. We could hear every footstep in the room above and every flush in the next room's toilet. The shower water didn't drain well; marks on the bottom of the shower curtain indicate that this has been the case for a while with nothing being done about it. I was also annoyed by a loud ad over the speaker in the elevator - a first. And the pool's location isn't the best, right by the highway.
But the beds were very comfortable, the room very clean otherwise and the manager responded to comments we left on the survey card the very same day - New Year's!
I feel that management actually cares and is trying to rectify their teething problems and Hampton will be a good choice for this town.
