Gainesville is pretty close (20 mins.) to the B&B and I considered this a much better option for where I was visiting (near Sherman, Texas). We also visited WinStar Casino and this B&B was about a 40 min. drive (pretty good). You have to be patron/member of the casino “club” to be able to stay at the WinStar Casino hotels.
Alexander B&B was very picturesque. There were 2 cats and 2 dogs to greet me as I arrived. Pamela (one of the inn keepers) greeted me at the picket fence. The inn is out in the middle of nowhere and very peaceful. The drive is beautiful.
I stayed in the Canopy Room ($95/night plus tax). It came equipped with a TV with cable and had a nice attached bathroom. The décor was charming. It had several pictures on the walls that were lovely and the shades on the windows were a nice touch. The rooms were clean, cheerful and big. The bathrooms were more than adequate. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Cookies were also left in my room the first night. Yum!
I was given directions to my function by Jimmy and Pamela to make it easy for me to get to Sherman the following day.
For breakfast the first morning I enjoyed strata French toast, fresh fruit with pecans, and bacon. The next morning I enjoyed a cheese, mushroom and tomato omelet with fruit and bacon and wonderful muffin and sourdough roll. The roll was fantastic!
They have a pool in the back and telescopes for looking at the night sky. There is a gazebo and the front porch is perfect for sitting out at sunset. Even in the middle of July the outdoors was comfortable (in the country).
Pamela and I sat and chatted for a few minutes before I headed out. She truly cares about the inn, the people who come through her door and that everyone enjoys a peaceful vacation while staying there.
