I read reviews about noise in this place and I can believe some of it. The hotel bar is apparently some sort of popular night spot. There were rooms very close by and they have live music some nights. I saw a lot of families all over the place and I heard loud voices in the hall well after 10 the first night. But I was on the end on the 8th floor and it was generally pretty quiet for me. Got trapped in the elevator twice with children playing with the buttons. The balcony was cool because I didn't have a lot of time to go to the strip of beach right across the street. But I could work at my desk and look out over the Gulf and it was a very relaxing way to work. Also, saw lots of nice bikinis walking around the pool. Not sure what that was all about but it didn't detract from my experience. Hotel staff was helpful. Room was clean and in good condition, with the exception of the the air conditioner which was leaking water into the carpeting by the balcony door. But when told, they got right on it. Wireless internet was a bit flaky but I've encountered worse and I was in the last room on the top floor. All in all, a decent place to stay but I think I paid more than it was really worth. Everything was basically fine but nothing was very special. It looked to me like the beach was maybe a little nicer up by the Sun Spree, but, Galveston Island is no Miami Beach, either.
