The Holiday Inn Select near Greenway Plaza is a pretty nice hotel. I stayed there to take someone to MD Anderson. They have a free shuttle to MD Anderson that runs pretty regularly. The hotel is right on Rt 59 which means it is loud outside the hotel but is pretty quiet inside the hotel. The hotel is in the process of being renovated to become a Crowne Plaza. The room was nice, clean and everything functioned properly. I had no real complaints. We I first checked in there was a smell of new carpet but that went away by the next day. The hotel was easy to find and check in went well.

The Holiday Inn Greenway Plaza is conveniently located for access to downtown/Rice Village area. The hotel itself is very standard for the Holiday Inn Select category, I did find it a bit noisy at night since the hotel is located so close to a freeway.

I stayed over a weekend at $48 per night via priceline. (After taxes it was about $60 per night). While I probably could've gotten a cheaper priceline quote, the fact that they are upgrading to a Crowne Plaza would probably increase rates.

Location is easy to find, and is fairly central (easy drive to Uptown, Medical Center, Downtown). You may end up driving in circles, though, as the Holiday Inn is directly on one side of the freeway. But if you have a car, you're a stone's throw away from restaurants and services on the south side of the freeway (try 100% Taquitos, which is awesome for tacos). Parking is $8 in-and-out self-park per night, though with all the pickup trucks in the parkade, it's pretty tight.

Services are good. In-suite Wi-Fi, outdoor pool, upgraded furniture, fixtures, and bedding. They're still in the midst of renovations (my desk chair broke and they never were able to fix it), but the quality level is still acceptable for the price. You are steps away from the freeway, so if you're on the lower half of the building, you will hear traffic.

All in all, a decent value for the price, though that's very likely because they're upgrading to Crowne Plaza Quality.

I loved this hotel, but there seemed to be some shady areas just a few blocks away. It is centrally located, so that's a plus. Large rooms, nice beds, and plenty of parking.
